Jessica Lynch Welcomes Baby Girl

Former POW Jessica Lynch and fiance Wes Robinson are celebrating the safe arrival of their first baby, Dakota Ann. Weighing 7 lbs 10 oz and measuring 19 inches long, Dakota has been described as “fat and gorgeous” by the family’s spokesperson. Jessica is thrilled with her little porker, who already sucks her fingers and has chubby cheeks.

Dakota Ann was born at 5:10 p.m. at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va. She is the first child for both Jessica and Wes.

The baby’s name, Dakota Ann, is a tribute to Jessica’s close friend Pfc. Lori Piestewa, who was killed in Iraq. “Dakota” means friend or ally in Native American, and “Ann” was Lori’s middle name. The name is a nod to Jessica’s friendship with Lori.

Before the birth, Jessica was excited and her doctor even showed her a high-resolution ultrasound of the baby’s face. The doctor raved about the baby’s chubby cheeks.

Despite facing some risks due to Jessica’s previous injuries, the pregnancy went fairly smoothly. Jessica didn’t experience morning sickness and was able to continue her physical therapy. However, she had to go off her pain medication and go on bed rest after experiencing contractions in December.

Originally scheduled for a C-section on January 23, Jessica went into labor today. During a routine doctor’s appointment, her physician determined it was time to deliver the baby.

We wish Jessica and Wes all the best as they embark on this new chapter in their lives. May Dakota allow them to get enough sleep to fully enjoy the joys of parenthood!
