Wife Gets Induced So Her Husband Can Watch Playoff Game

Colleen Pavelka of Homer Glen, a suburb of Chicago, made a decision that showcased her unwavering dedication to her husband. With her due date approaching, Pavelka’s doctor gave her the option to induce labor early to avoid going into labor during an important football game featuring the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears.

Fearing that her husband, Mark, would miss a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Pavelka opted for the Friday delivery. And so, at 10:45 p.m., Mark Patrick Pavelka was born after a labor that lasted nearly six hours at Palos Community Hospital.

While her husband eagerly watched the Bears battle the Saints at Soldier Field, Colleen watched the game from the hospital room, with their newborn son adorably swaddled in a Bears blanket – a cherished Christmas gift from his grandmother.

In the end, the Bears’ victory of 39-14 made all the sacrifices worthwhile.
