Two Year Old Swims Her Way Into The Guinness Book Of Records

Leah Robbins, a young toddler, is making waves with her impressive swimming abilities. Despite still learning how to walk on land, she surpasses most other children in the water.

In fact, Leah has recently achieved the remarkable feat of swimming 50 meters all on her own, which is believed to be a British record for her age. Her mother, Kay Masters, a swimming instructor, hopes that her daughter’s accomplishment will be acknowledged by the Guinness Book of Records.

Leah’s love for water has been evident from a very young age. Her mother has always encouraged her to feel comfortable and confident in the water, without ever pushing her to do anything she’s not happy with. Even as a baby, Leah was taught to enjoy being in water, going so far as to try getting into any available bath.

Leah has already earned several swimming certificates from the Amateur Swimming Association, including those for five meters, ten meters, and 25 meters. She recently received the 50-meter award, a remarkable achievement for someone her age. Typically, children do not earn this certificate until they are six years old.

Obtaining the 50-meter certificate required special effort from Leah. While she had previously used the doggy paddle stroke, ASA rules stipulate that a proper swimming stroke must be used for the 50 meters. Due to her small size, Leah chose to use the backstroke, causing her arms to remain at right angles out of the water due to their chubbiness.

Leah’s swimming journey began at just four months old, when she started using a toggle float. By her second birthday, she was confident enough to doggy paddle in her local pool without any assistance.

Having already achieved so much at such a young age, Leah’s next goals are to earn her 100-meter certificate and potentially her one-mile award in the near future. Her older brother, Luke, who is six years old, has already swum two miles.

The Amateur Swimming Association recognizes Leah’s extraordinary accomplishment and believes that if she continues to improve and refine her stroke technique, she has the potential for a successful future in swimming.
