The 2 month old baby in Wyoming that was kidnapped by her mother 3 days ago has been found safe.
An Amber Alert was isued for Serenity Withrow after Rebecca Forrester refused to turn over the child to the state’s Child Protective Services because she failed a test for methamphetamine use.
Rebecca disappeared with Serenity on Wednesday and authorities feared for the babies safety.
Serenity was removed from her mother’s custody after the baby was born in a private residence without medical attention, according to the sheriff’s office.
Forrester, 32, and her daughter were located at 7:30 p.m. Pacific Time in a Cheyenne, Wyo., grocery store parking lot by an FBI agent and Cheyenne police, Kitsap County sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson told the Kitsap Sun.
Forrester was arrested, and the baby was taken to a hospital to be examined, Wilson said.
Another woman with the pair when they were found was detained for questioning. It was not immediately known what role, if any, the second woman played in the case, Wilson said.
Wilson had said investigator were concerned for the infant’s safety because they believed Forrester used drugs and had a history of child abuse.
Forrester was ordered May 2 by a Kitsap County judge to turn over the child to the state’s Child Protective Services because she failed a test for methamphetamine use, the Sun reported.
The Amber Alert was issued when that did not happen.
Wilson said authorities would next take steps to return Forrester to Washington.
After the child is released by doctors, she was to be turned over to the Wyoming Department of Family Service.
