Sextuplets

Florida Woman on Track to Set State Birth Record with Sextuplets Due this Summer

Patty and Jack Kiewra were floored when they learned that their daughter, Karoline, was expecting not one, not two, but six babies. Now, at 20 weeks pregnant, Karoline’s doctors are hoping she can make it to at least 30 to 32 weeks before delivering the sextuplets via cesarean section.

Patty, feeling a mix of shock and excitement, is praying for a successful outcome for her daughter and the babies. This isn’t Karoline’s first experience with fertility treatments – her first pregnancy resulted in the birth of her daughter Zoe, who is turning 4 this August.

If everything goes smoothly, the upcoming births will make history in Florida. The families have learned that no one in Florida has ever delivered six or more babies before, and the births would set a new state record for multiple births. Karoline received this information from doctors at Bayfront Medical Hospital in St. Petersburg, where she and her husband have chosen to deliver.

To add to the gravity of the situation, Karoline shared that there are only 15 documented cases of sextuplets in the United States, with just seven of those babies surviving infancy. Knowing this, the families are hoping and praying for the best possible outcome.

This story captures the awe-inspiring journey of one woman as she prepares to make history and bring six precious lives into the world.
