Russian Parents Welcome Quints Home

After being in the hospital for 3 months, the Russian parents of the quints born in November , are excited to finally have them home.

Last week, Tatiana was the last of the Russian couple’s quintuplets to be given a clean bill of health by doctors at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital and allowed to join her sisters at the family’s temporary home nearby.

The family is originally from Russia, but chose to deliver their 5 babies at John Radcliffe in order to increase their chances of survival.

Elizaveta, Alexandra, Nadezhda, Tatiana and Varvara – are now getting to know one another after spending the months following their birth apart.

The babies, who all came home separately, have now been re-united after Tatiana needed to be re hospitalized after coming down with an infection.

“At first, we had two babies at home, then three, then four, and we thought we would have five – but one went back to hospital, which was disappointing,” said Varvara, a 29-year-old music teacher.

“That’s why we are so excited to have them all together now. They take a lot of work, and we are very tired, but they are worth it.

“We have been looking forward to taking care of them ourselves for so long.

“We’re enjoying seeing how they respond to one another – they seem very content now that they are all together.

“And we’re discovering that each of them has her own distinct personality. They bring us so much joy.”
