12 Ways To Re-Use Your Empty Baby Food Jars

babyfood-jar220At some point, every mom is faced with a mountain of empty baby food jars.

Even though I recycled all of our empty jars, it seems more practical to find household uses for them.

Here are 12 creative ways to re-use those Baby Food Jars:

  1. Creative tiny votive candles. You can go all out and pour wax in with a wick or just place store-bought votives in the jars.
  2. Create little air fresheners by saturating cotton balls with essential oils and placing them in empty jars. Use scents like lavender, citrus, cinnamon, and vanilla.
  3. Use them on a desk to store paper clips and pencils.
  4. Use in the garage to store nuts, bolts, nails, and screws.
  5. Use in a bathroom to store hair pins and bows.
  6. Use in a locker at school to keep extra change or small objects from getting lost in the bottom of the locker.
  7. Use in a sewing room to keep pins, bobbins, and ribbons in check.
  8. Use in the Kitchen to store herbs and spices
  9. Make and store finger paint in them. Start by mixing 1/4 cup cornstarch, 2 cups cold water, and food coloring in a saucepan. Boil until the mixture thickens. Cool, and pour into containers. To make several colors, double the recipe but omit food coloring. Fill the jars and then add coloring to each jar.
  10. For special occasions, wrap it with a ribbon and fill it with candies. This is a great idea for baby showers, easter, valentines day or for party favors.
  11. Stamp-out cookies Baby food jars are the right size for cutting bite-sized cookies out of any rolled dough.
  12. No need to bring the whole box of snacks when you leave the house; pack individual servings of cheesy fish, cheerios or Gerber star puffs in your clean, empty baby food jars.

*Baby food jars are not manufactured for freezing or for extreme heating. Therefore they are not to be used for storing homemade food and then frozen. *
