LeapFrog To Offer Rebates To Parents Who ‘E-Cycle’ Their Older Systems

by in Parenting

Today, LeapFrog Enterprises announced its “Trade Up to Leapster Explorer” program, offering discounts on the Leapster Explorer system. To participate, families simply turn in eligible older LeapFrog platforms through RecycleBank’s online service or in person at Best Buy stores, then receive $10 off a new Leapster Explorer system and $10 off two Leapster Explorer games. And by “trading up,” LeapFrog consumers will be happy to know that their device has been “e-cycled” properly, which helps keeps landfills free from electronics.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Americans generated more than two million tons of electronic waste in 2007, but only 18% of this was recycled—the rest wound up in landfills. And while 23 states have passed legislation mandating statewide electronics recycling, many people are still unaware that electronics can be recycled, or do not have access to a program facilitating collection.

LeapFrog will offer two easy ways for consumers to help the environment while enjoying a great deal on a top-notch learning system for their kids: from home, or in store.

Consumers can recycle their older LeapFrog platform by mail, by visiting the RecycleBank LeapFrog partner page (www.recyclebank.com/leapfrog). Consumers who want instant rewards can visit their local Best Buy store’s Customer Service desk and turn in their LeapFrog system to receive savings on the spot.

Systems are eligible for trade-in are:

  • LeapPad™
  • Leapster®
  • Leapster2
  • Didj™
  • Fly™
  • Fly Fusion™
  • Crammer™
