California Mom Welcomes an Almost 14lb Baby!

It must be the year of the big baby. Already in 2012 there have been some hefty arrivals, with a UK mom welcoming a 14 pound baby girl and a Chinese mom a robust 15.5 pound baby boy.

Cynthia Sigler of Vista, California knew for months that she was going to have a big baby boy, but 13 pounds, 14 ounces was definitely a surprise.

In fact her first question after she heard how big her son was, ‘How’d he fit?’ His size did however did explain why she was so uncomfortable toward the end.

“When I saw how big he is, I understood why I was in so much pain,” she said.

Two months ago it was predicted by doctors that baby Jayden would weigh about 9 pounds at birth. On March 6, that estimate jumped to 11 pounds.

The new arrival is almost double the size of his sister Jailyn when she born, which has rendered most of the baby clothes the new mom has for him useless.

“My sister took back the newborn and zero to 2 months clothes yesterday,” Cynthia said.

Jayden was delivered by Dr. Jerald White, Tri-City’s longest-serving doctor. And while he has delivered 20,000 babies in his 50 year career, Jayden is the largest.

Congratulations to the new mom. Thankfully for her, he was delivered by c-section.
