Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa Plan to Welcome Baby via Water Birth

Water births have made some serious waves lately among expectant couples; even celebrity couples have caught on to the water birth trend. Amber Rose and fiancé Wiz Khalifa are one of the most recent couples to announce their plan for a water birth. They say they made their decision after watching the documentary The Business of Being Born.

The documentary follows different pregnant women and their home deliveries. Ricki Lake, who executive produced the film, welcomed her second child, Owen, via water birth. Ricki was thanked directly by Amber Rose on Twitter.

“Thx @RickiLake 4 making ‘The Business of Being Born’ it changed my life & I’m looking forward 2 my home water birth wish me luck!” Amber tweeted on Feb. 2nd.

According to AmericanPregnancy.org, water births are when a mother goes through labor in a pool of water. When it’s time for the birthing process, the mother can elect to either come out of the tub or deliver the baby right into the water.

In an interview with the L.A. radio show, Big Boy’s Neighborhood, Wiz shared some inside information on their impending home birth plan.

“We gonna have a midwife and a doula at the crib, and she’s going to be in a pool, and it’s gonna be like a relaxing environment, and when she’s ready, she’s gonna tell me to stick my hands down there and I’m gonna pull the baby out,” Wiz said, adding that he can’t wait to be a dad. “I’m excited, I’m ready. I mean, I’m nervous too, but it’s a good nervous. It’s not like a confused nervous, like, ‘What do I do?’”

And it sounds like Amber is just as excited about the whole experience as Wiz.

“I don’t want no medication,” Amber said during the interview. “We take homebirthing classes to teach us how to do it, and we’re going to have our midwife, and when the baby’s head comes out, he’s going to be Dr. Wiz. He’s going to be the first person to touch the child. No doctors, no gloves.”
