Miami Police have arrested a 22 year old woman for supplying false information to police for a crime after she reported a 6-month-old boy missing who doesn’t actually exist.

Megan McCormic admitted that she invented the child, whom she called Riley Archer Buchness, to lure ex-boyfriend John Buchness to Miami to meet his supposed son. She claimed her infant son had a mohawk and a tattoo.

She supplied police with a picture they believe was taken from the Internet and told police her son had disappeared on Tuesday with a nanny named Camille. It was later revealed that she has no children, but did miscarry six months ago.

Police now want her to pay for the resources that were used to locate the nonexistent child. Nearly 20 detectives worked the case throughout all of Christmas Eve and Christmas.

”We’re always on call. We’re always here,” Miami police spokesman Willie Moreno told the Herald. “But what’s really nasty about it was the tremendous manpower and hours she used.”

He told the newspaper detectives became suspicious of McCormic’s story because of inconsistencies in her story. She admitted to lying to the police around 6 a.m. Friday, police said.

“It was not just telling a little white lie to her boyfriend,” Moreno told the Herald. “Those resources could have been used for someone in real need.”

It is sad that 20 people had to be away from their families during the Christmas season because this girl needed some attention. SOURCE

Police are looking for a newborn baby girl who was abducted today from a local hospital by an unidentified woman.

The abduction occurred at about 12:30 p.m., and the suspect’s image was captured around that time on surveillance video at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The woman was wearing clothing similar to hospital scrubs, and police say that points to a premeditated decision.

“We don’t believe she’s an employee there,” said Sudbury police Const. Bert Lapalme. “The uniform was pretty much to go along with the plan, we suspect.”

The Caucasian baby has dark hair, bruising on her face, was wearing a white flannel hospital gown, and was wrapped in a white blanket.

Police describe the woman as aboriginal, five-foot-six, slim and between 26 and 30 years old.

She was wearing white pants, a white V-neck shirt and a black sweater, and had her black hair in a ponytail.

Police issue an Amber Alert when they believe a child has been abducted and may be in danger.

“If the child is not in the hospital, I think there’s always a concern, especially for a newborn,” Lapalme said.

The woman is not related to the infant and it is not known why this particular baby was taken, he said.

The baby is believed to have been born in the last couple of days, and the mother is believed to still be in the hospital, Lapalme said.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in Alexandria, VA, reports that since 1983, there have been 121 abductions from health care facilities. Within health care facilities, 56% are taken from the mother’s room, 14% are taken from the nursery, 14% are taken from pediatrics, and 16% from elsewhere in the facility.

The good news is that in the past 24 years, 95% of abducted infants and newborns have been recovered safely.

The baby’s 27-year-old mother went into the hospital for medical issues relating to the birth and left the baby in the care of her 24-year-old sister who lives on Lantz Street on Detroit’s east side. At some point, the sister fell asleep. When she awoke around 1 p.m. Thursday, both the baby and Jasmin were gone. Police were not notified about the disappearance until around 11 p.m. Thursday.

Jasmin is described as a black female, 5 feet 2 and weighing 100 pounds. She has brown eyes. Her hair is in a black and red weave and she was last seen wearing a red jacket, red shirt and blue jeans.

The child is black, 20 inches long, 7 pounds 11 ounces, and has brown eyes. She was wearing a pink, white and purple-striped outfit with matching hat.

The 2 month old baby in Wyoming that was kidnapped by her mother 3 days ago has been found safe.

An Amber Alert was isued for Serenity Withrow after Rebecca Forrester refused to turn over the child to the state’s Child Protective Services because she failed a test for methamphetamine use.

Rebecca disappeared with Serenity on Wednesday and authorities feared for the babies safety.

Serenity was removed from her mother’s custody after the baby was born in a private residence without medical attention, according to the sheriff’s office.

Forrester, 32, and her daughter were located at 7:30 p.m. Pacific Time in a Cheyenne, Wyo., grocery store parking lot by an FBI agent and Cheyenne police, Kitsap County sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson told the Kitsap Sun.

Forrester was arrested, and the baby was taken to a hospital to be examined, Wilson said.

Another woman with the pair when they were found was detained for questioning. It was not immediately known what role, if any, the second woman played in the case, Wilson said.

Wilson had said investigator were concerned for the infant’s safety because they believed Forrester used drugs and had a history of child abuse.

Forrester was ordered May 2 by a Kitsap County judge to turn over the child to the state’s Child Protective Services because she failed a test for methamphetamine use, the Sun reported.

The Amber Alert was issued when that did not happen.

Wilson said authorities would next take steps to return Forrester to Washington.

After the child is released by doctors, she was to be turned over to the Wyoming Department of Family Service.

This is the second AMBER ALERT I have posted this week. Both children have been taken by one of their parents and both children are believed to be in danger.

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office has issued an Amber Alert in a case involving a mother who has disappeared with her 2-month-old daughter.

Police believe that the infant’s life is in jeopardy, according to a news release.

The child, Serenity Withrow, was last seen in Poulsbo about 5 p.m. Wednesday. Her mother, 32-year-old Rebecca Forrester is believed to have taken the child.

Forrester has a history of drug use, according to court records, and is believed to be driving a 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup with license A02765P, according to the alert.

Serenity was removed from her mother’s custody after the child was born in a private residence without medical attention, according to the sheriff’s office.

Recently the child was returned to Forrester by order of a judge, but after that decision Forrester failed a urinalysis test. After the failed test Child Protective Services sought a court order to get Serenity back but Forrested and the child can’t be located.

An Amber alert has been issued for a missing Siler City boy whom authorities think is in danger.

The alert was issued early this morning for 8-year-old Jose Angel Fitzpatrick, who four feet tall and 80 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Julia Jarema of the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety says authorities think Jose is with his father, Kenneth Paul Fitzpatrick.

Both father and son are Hispanic males.

Jarema says no vehicle is involved, so the alert doesn’t include a vehicle description. She says authorities think the child is in “imminent danger.”

Remi Baugher and her 2-year-old brother, Lars were found safe just outside Denver after an Amber Alert was issued.

John Baugher, the children’s father, was arrested shortly after noon in Idaho Springs, Colo., while the three were traveling on a Greyhound bus.

Law enforcement officers boarded the bus about 35 miles outside Denver after it developed mechanical problems and stopped on the side of the highway, said Laura Laughlin, Seattle FBI special agent in charge. The bus was bound from Salt Lake City to Hartford, Conn., via Denver, she said.

The FBI was reuniting the children — 4-year-old Remi Baugher and her 2-year-old brother, Lars — with their mother, said Agent Larry Carr.

John Baugher, 34, was charged Monday in Walla Walla County Superior Court with custodial interference for failing to return the children to their mother after a visit. A warrant was issued for his arrest. He was held at the Clear Creek County Jail pending his return to Washington.

The Amber Alert was issued in Walla Walla for the children on Sunday. Baugher’s van was found Monday in northeast Washington and the father and children were seen Tuesday at a fast-food restaurant and a department store in Missoula, Mont., where they were taped on surveillance cameras. He also was spotted Wednesday evening at a Salt Lake City bus station.

The FBI said it appeared that Baugher altered the appearance of the children, cutting Remi’s hair short and dressing her like a boy, and dyeing both children’s hair darker.

Officials had said they were concerned for the children because Baugher has mental health problems.

Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for two children and their father, who disappeared from Waitsburg in Walla Walla County in southeast Washington.

They were last seen about 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Waitsburg.

Authorities say the children, a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, may be in danger because of mental-health issues involving the father, John Baugher.

The car the three were believed to be in is described as a 1978 brown Volkswagen van with Washington license plate 349 NRK. However, the vehicle was found unoccupied in Stevens County earlier Monday morning. County deputies are checking the surrounding areas for the children and their father.

Four-year-old Remi Baugher has blonde hair with hazel eyes and stands at 3 feet, 1 inch tall. She was last seen wearing a pink jacket with a heavier yellow jacket over the top, blue jeans, and Strawberry Shortcake shoes.

2-year-old Lars Baugher also has blonde hair with green eyes and is 2 feet, 7 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a brown or green jacket, blue jeans, and black Converse shoes.

The father, John Baugher, 34, has brown hair with green eyes. He is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.

Good News in Texas today. Four-day-old Mychael Darthard-Dawodu, a newborn kidnapped from a hospital, was found safe in New Mexico today.

The baby was found about 100 miles from the hospital where she was abducted and transportation was being arranged to return the baby to Texas. She is said to be in good condition.

The infant was kidnapped early Saturday by a woman posing as a medical worker, police said. The woman walked out of Covenant Lakeside Hospital with the 5-pound baby hidden away in her purse, police said.

The abduction sparked a manhunt and multiple Amber Alerts in Texas and New Mexico. Tips about the abduction came in from across the region and the country

Law enforcement officials received information from more than one source that the baby was in Clovis, about 100 miles northwest of Lubbock, said FBI spokeswoman Lori Bailey in Dallas. Bailey declined to elaborate because the investigation was continuing.
