The list was compiled from hundreds of thousands of parents who shared their baby’s name with the popular site.

The top 3 names in both categories remain virtually the same as last year’s list.

Couples in Sweden have previously run into trouble with officials over the names Ikea, Veranda, Metallica and the use of Elvis for a girl.

The Swedish Administrative Court of Appeals has now overruled an earlier decision to stop a couple naming their child after the brightly coloured plastic building blocks.

In Swedish law, offensive, unsuitable or inappropriate names are all forbidden, as well as names that could embarrass the people they are given to.

Lego’s was just the latest in a series of cases in which the tax authority or County Administrative Court have questioned unusual names for youngsters.

I just don’t understand why a parent feels the need to go SO outside of the box when naming their baby.

They obviously forget how cruel kids are on the playground…

It is interesting to see that names that are very popular in one country don’t even make the list in another.

Sophie(or Sophia) appears to be popular in all countries. It tops Canada’s list and Scotlands list, and gets to number 6 in the UK.

In the UK, their multicultural community shows it’s strength by vaulting Mohammed into the second spot. It also appears a few times on the list with 7 different spellings.

This years list of top names has been revealed and it seems that celebrities still have clout with parents when they are naming their children.

My personal rule was to aim for a name that isn’t in the top 50 and avoid anything I have seen on TV.

The good news is that unique names like Xavier, Sebastian and Isabella are on the rise, with newcomers to the top 100, to be released next month, include Lila, Maria and Adrien.

There is a fine line between naming your child something unique and making it so uncommon that other kids will be forced to make fun of it.

Paul and Teri Fields of Michigan City, Ind. They are — no surprise — fans of the Cubs, who have played at Wrigley Field since 1916. The Fields planned the name for years before their son’s birth.

Wrigley Alexander Fields was born Sept. 12 at an Indiana hospital.

Cubs spokeswoman Katelyn Thrall said the name may be a first. The team has no record of other children named Wrigley, although there have been some children names Zambrano and Ryne after Cubs stars Carlos Zambrano and Ryne Sandberg.

Recently we have had parents try to name their baby 4real (settled on Superman?), metallica and a couple who tagged their daughters middle name with over 25 names from boxing legends.

Today a Chinese couple, seeking a distinctive name for their child, settled on the e-mail ‘at’ symbol annoying government officials grappling with an influx of unorthodox names.

The unidentified couple were cited Thursday by a government official as an example of citizens bringing bizarre names into the Chinese language.

Written Chinese does not use an alphabet but is comprised of characters, sometimes making it difficult to develop words for new or foreign objects and ideas. As of last year, only 129 names accounted for 87 percent of all surnames in China, Li Yuming, vice director of the State Language Commission, said at a news conference.

The letters ‘a’ and ‘t’ can be pronounced in a way that sounds like the phrase “love him” in Chinese.

The father “said ‘the whole world uses it to write e-mails and, translated into Chinese, it means ‘love him,’” Li said.

Li did not say if police, who are the arbiters of names because they issue identity cards, rejected baby ‘at.

There is no shame in naming your child John, Chris, Steve or something that won’t get them made fun of everytime they have to introduce themselves to someone…

At the end of June I reported on a family that was fighting to name their baby 4real.

When Pat and Sheena Wheaton tried to register their son’s name, officials rejected it because it contains a number.

Not willing to settle with a John or James the New Zealand couple opted for their next choice – ‘Superman’.

Still unhappy about the non approval of the first name, they are considering legal action against their government’s Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages to get the initial decision overturned.

Even though his official name is Superman, they still call him 4real.

The Wheatons decided on the name after seeing the baby for the first time in an ultrasound scan and realising their baby was “for real”.

They decided 4Real was the best way to write it, but the name was rejected because the registrar said a name had to be a sequence of letters, with no numbers.

The same rules are in place in most countries, including the UK.

They were told that it would be perfectly alright for them to name their son For Real, but the couple dismissed the idea, claiming it didn’t have the same ring to it.

Mrs Wheaton said: “For most of us, when we try to figure out what our names mean, we have to look it up in a babies book and there’s no direct link between the meaning and the name.

“With this name, everyone knows what it means.”

Newspaper reports of their unusual wrangle sparked a flurry of comments on the internet, many of them mocking and criticising the couple.

But with their son now two months old, Mr Wheaton remains defiant.

He said: “No matter what, it’s going to stay 4Real. I’m certainly not a quitter.

“I did go online and Google some of the stories but as tough as I am it does get to you.

“But there’s no point getting upset, it could be a ten-year-old school girl making those comments.”

We all know he is for real, he is here and breathing. There is no need to put it in his name to remind us. I think that this is now an issue of principle and press. This story has gotten so much press that I am sure that this couple felt like they needed to fight.

A mother and father who are diehard fans of boxing have brought a baby girl into the world and named her after 25 legends of Boxing. Baby Autumn Brown has been in fact tagged with over 25 names from boxing legends to make up her middle name. All of the names are of legends from the past.

The girl’s mother Maria decided to give her baby daughter 25 middle names all from the greatest legends of boxing, because both her mother and father are obsessed with the sport of boxing. That and she has a sense
of humor.

The girl’s full name, which was registered in Perton, Wolverhampton reeling is: Autumn Sullivan Corbett Fitzsimmons Jeffries Hart Burns Johnson Willard Dempsey Tunney Schmeling Sharkey Carnera Baer Braddock Louis Charles Walcott Marciano Patterson Johansson Liston Clay Frazier Foreman Brown.

Maria, the 33 year old mother told the city’s Express and Star:
“The whole thing came about because both my mum and dad are obsessed with boxing and have a bit of a daft sense of humour.

She added:
“When I was young I couldn’t ever remember my name. It took me to the age of 10 to memorise it all.”

Maria hopes her daughter will have a sense of humor, stating: “I’m hoping Autumn has a good sense of humour with her name. It’s never done me any harm though.”

Once again…the intention is good but the exectution – not so good. Why do parents insist on giving their children such unusual names? Do they not know that the kids in the school yard may have a sense of humour, but not one that is beneficial to them?
