Babycotpod™ Limited was formed in 2008 when founder Shaun Milburn became a dad for the second time.

Shaun noticed that the only product on the UK market for a newborn baby to sleep in was the Moses Basket, and although they are widely popular, they are also very traditional in style. With a lot more sophisticated prams and highchairs arriving on the market lately, its clear the baby sector is embracing more high-end products. So with that in mind Shaun designed a range of modern carrycots that would provide an alternative to the traditional Moses Basket or Bassinet.

This unique bed comes in two models: the ‘Cascara’, which is the elite model, with a built-in hood and retractable carry handle, and the less expensive ‘Cuba’.

Both models were ergonomically designed to provide ultimate safety and comfort for your baby. They both feature easy to grab handles for lifting on and off the stylish base frame. A ventilated mattress provides extra airflow from below the cot.

For your convenience, all of the furnishings are removable for washing.

Product Review: Graco Color Video & Sound Monitor

Three years ago when we brought our son home from the hospital, I would have given anything to have a video monitor to watch over him while he was sleeping.

The problem was that at that time the only video monitors available looked like tiny little tube TVs only broadcasting in black and white.

Technology has definitely improved over the last few years, with companies offering parents sleek flat screen color monitors to watch over their precious bundles during the night and day.

We have been using the Graco Color Video & Sound Monitor for the last couple of weeks and I am in LOVE!

This super clear color monitor that features a 5.6″ screen allows me to watch my son during naps and bedtime.

It is nice to see what happens when he goes down to sleep, without having to stand in the doorway and peek.

When installing it we found the wall mount option the best for us. It keeps the camera off the table and away from little 3-year-old fingers, plus we are able to see the whole crib without having to try to point it through the bars.

The camera hub rotates quite nicely, giving parents the ability to control exactly what they want to see.

During the day the color screen is clear and sharp. At night, the ‘night view’ still allows us to see everything just as clearly, but only in black and white because of the darkness.

The camera comes with a blue light, which indicates what channel you have it on. It shines a little too brightly for us, so we put a piece of tape over top of it. We haven’t noticed a difference in the way the camera performs without it and our son seems to sleep better without the light shining across his room. This light may be beneficial to some who have kids that need a light in their room. Unfortunately for us, both our boys are used to sleeping in complete darkness and any light – even one on in the hallway – will keep them up.

Parents of twins or two different aged children will love that a second camera can be purchased to run with the same monitor. When hooked up, the monitor will toggle between both of the cameras showing mom and dad what is happening in each room.

I personally wish I could buy an extra monitor so that I could have one in my room and in the kitchen. Right now I move the monitor up and down the stairs between naps and bedtime.

Another feature I like about this system is that it runs on a 900 MHz signal. This means that there will be no interference from wireless routers, microwaves, or 2.4 GHz telephones. In the 6 weeks we have been using this monitor, we have also not heard any interference from neighborhood monitors. Our previous monitor used to pick up other kids crying on the street, which freaked me out.

I am in love with the tessell playmat! Not only is it a bright, interesting place for a baby to play, but it doubles as 3 other toys.

Created by a Korean company, the Tessel is not only a beautiful floor mat which children put together themselves, but also a ride-on toy, stage, or set of large dominoes.

Everything is Pink At Boon!

Boon is one of my favorite modern baby companies because they are always introducing great new products for parents.

I always love to see what Rebecca Finell, the head designer, has come up with for the new year and she never lets me down. Boon’s new bath line (pictured top right) are PVC and Phthlate free.

This line includes water squishers, a ring toss game and floating ducks that were moulded to not look like conventional ducks. Each has its own unique name to match it’s shape.

New for 2009, Boon has created a pink version of their popular Flair highchair. Additionally, parents who already have the Flair and want to make it pink can just purchase the pink padding as an accessory.

Girls can rejoice! Boon’s popular feeding line is now available in the original color, Orange and new for 09 – Pink!

There are many new ideas in the pipeline at Boon and some were on display in prototype form at the show. At the company’s request, we did not take pictures because the products are not complete or ready to be shown to the public.

One thing I can reveal is that crib bedding is in the works and it is CUTE! Can’t wait!

Modern Baby Furniture by bo design

Swedish designer Bo Ekström has created some sharp functional nursery furniture.

The floor change table, wall change table and diaper holder are made of moulded birch veneer.

The mattresses on the change tables are made of fabric with a filling of 30 mm polyester fiber wool.
