Tara Goss ran into the store to quickly grab a few items, leaving her 10 year-old and 2 year-old children in the car, with the engine running. That is when a man jumped into her car and drove away, with her children still inside.

The accused man, Omar Baez, might not have known the children were in the car police suspect. However when he became aware of them in the backseat he continued driving until crashing the car and fleeing the scene. The oldest boy quickly took the toddler to a nearby house where they waited for the police to arrive. The truck and the children were recovered 45 minutes later, both children were unhurt.

The frantic mom saw the man driving away in her vehicle and began chasing after him, however she could not catch her truck. She had only been in the store for a few moments before the incident happened. Officials often warn not to leave young children inside a vehicle because of the danger from heat. Tara wants parents to know not to leave children unattended inside a vehicle ever.

A police spokesperson has stated that what this mom did was illegal and she could be faced with charges of endangering the welfare of a child. No charges have been brought against her as of yet. Some supporters of her have pointed out that even if she was in the vehicle she might not have been able to prevent the theft or gotten her children out. A similar incident happened last January where a father was forced out of a car, his children taken then abandoned by car thieves. Tara Goss was 9 months pregnant when her car was stolen.

The joint security assessment cited recent female homicide bomber attacks in Baghdad — in which two women who appeared to have Down syndrome delivered a deadly explosion that killed 99 — as well as in Sri Lanka, Chechnya, India, Pakistan and the Palestinian territories as reason for the warning.”Female suicide bombers may have an advantage over their male counterparts in accessing targets,” the analysis cautioned. “The means to conduct a suicide attack vary widely, but a key element in maximizing the lethality of a suicide bombing is the bomber’s ability to get close to the target.”

The assessment also strongly warned that potential female homicide bombers could use “prosthetic devices that mimic the look of a pregnant woman.”

“Regardless of delivery by a man or a woman,” the warning reads, “improvised explosive devices may contain fragmentation or shrapnel, such as nails, bolts, glass fragments, marbles, ball bearings, or other small metal pieces.”

A South African man is in trouble after he faked a sick note which said he needed time off work because he was pregnant.

Magistrates in Vereeniging, near Johannesburg, fined Charles Sibindana, 27, £70 for the forgery, reports the Sapa agency.

Sibindana stole a medical certificate from a health centre used by his pregnant girlfriend, but was apparently unaware only women consulted gynaecologists.

Magistrate Bruno Van Eeden jokingly warned Sibindana “not to walk around faking sick letters from gynaecologists”

Nicaraguan President Enrique Bolanos has signed into law a ban on all abortions, even in cases when a woman’s life is judged to be at risk.

Previous legislation from a century ago allowed an abortion if three doctors certified that the woman was in danger.

Abortion was a central issue for November’s presidential election in mainly Roman Catholic Nicaragua.

President-elect Daniel Ortega once favoured abortion rights but changed stance after re-embracing Catholicism.

Mr Bolanos signed the law in the presence of Roman Catholic bishops and Protestant evangelist leaders.

The new legislation would help protect the right to life enshrined in the Nicaraguan constitution, a statement on the presidency’s website said.

The law abolished abortion rights “which allowed the daily execution of innocent children in their mother’s womb, in open violation of the Constitution which protected the unborn child”, the statement said.

Nicaragua already had strong anti-abortion laws, with women and doctors who take part in abortions facing prison sentences of up to six years.

But in October the national assembly unanimously approved the new ban.

The timing of the vote was opposed by Nicaragua’s medical association and representatives from the United Nations and European Union, who warned that the debate had become politicised ahead of the election.

Doctors and women’s rights campaigners also argued that the change in the law would increase maternal deaths and infant mortality.

I am not sure how I feel about this. Sometimes you find that countries go to the extreme on certain issues. There is no in between and no reasoning with the leader, once he has made up his mind. There are good and bad points for each side, but in this case it doesn’t matter, this matter does not seem to be negotiable.
