Thea and Phil Willson welcomed daughters, Daniella, Alexis and Gemma, 10 weeks early on February 29 – leap day.

The babies, who weighed between two and 3.3 pounds, are doing well and are expected to remain in hospital until at least their original due date, in early June.

Doctors were surprised by the size of the triplets saying,

“The rarity, it’s amazing, it’s huge. Especially babies of this size, born at 1.5 kilos (3.3 pounds), only 10 per cent are conceived naturally. In other cases, 90 per cent are (born after the use of) fertility drugs. This is an extremely rare occasion.”

Despite the ridiculous odds (200 million to 1) of having a set of identical triplets, this is the second set we have covered this week.
