There are no babysitters or nannies for Cate Blanchett and husband Andrew Upton.

The pair attended a glamorous charity dinner for the Sydney Theatre Company last night with baby and bed in hands.

Clutched in his mother’s arms, six-week-old Ignatius was ushered into the STC, where his parents are co-artistic directors, for the annual Armani fundraising dinner.

Blanchett, looking stunning in a black dress, carried her son into the event at The Rocks just before 7pm while her husband toted the designer baby bag.

Congratulations to Cate Blanchett and husband Andrew Upton on the safe arrival of their third baby.

Ignatius Martin Upton arrived yesterday, weighing just over 8lbs the Daily Telegraph reported.

Cate and Andrew already have two sons: Dashiell, 6, and Roman, 3.

Cate Blanchett and husband, Andrew Upton attend the premiere of “The Year of Magical Thinking” at the Sydney Theatre Company last night, where she is currently the artistic director.


Cate is currently expecting her third baby, rumored to be another boy, and is due late April/early May 2008.

The couple also have two other boys Dashiell John, 6, and Roman Robert, 4, on April 23.
