Brian and Jenny Masche Talk About ‘Raising Sextuplets’

This Thursday night WE TV gets in on the ‘mega multiple’ hype with Raising Sextuplets starring Brian and Jenny Masche’s 6 children.

A four-person crew has been filming the Masches for the new series since the kids were just a few months old. (It follows up on “OMG! Sextuplets!” — a documentary on Jenny’s challenging pregnancy that premiered a year ago, and re-airs just before the premiere of Raising Sextuplets).

“It ended up being a lot of fun,” says Jenny by phone, with her husband and their kids in proximity. “Around five days of each month, when the crew was around, we got a little break from the routine, we got to have some friends around _”

“_ and a few extra hands,” added Bryan gratefully.

Since the Masches admitted cameras into their world, other series about multiples have flourished: TLC introduced “18 Kids and Counting” and “Table for 12.”

The couple addresses the differences between their show and Jon and Kate plus 8, which has recently burst into a tabloid spectacle.

“At first, the Jon-and-Kate stuff made me scared,” Jenny acknowledges. “I was thinking, ‘Omigosh, why are we doing this?’ But then I started thinking, and praying, and I realized that so far it’s been a real blessing for us.”

She says during her pregnancy, she had gotten phone advice from Kate (whose sextuplets just turned 5). She calls the harsh publicity and marital discord plaguing the Gosselins “sad and heartbreaking.”

“We need to not only learn from others’ mistakes, but have some boundaries put in place, and pray for wisdom that we can stay strong and united,” says Jenny, who wed Bryan in 2004. “We really have to focus on our marriage — because it’s hard.”

WE tv President Kim Martin says “Raising Sextuplets” is different from its by-now-notorious predecessor because, quite simply, the Masches are a different family.

“Jenny and Bryan are grounded,” Martin says. “They are nice people raising six kids in a really healthy environment.” And they draw on a community of friends and extended family, she adds.

Whether or not the series continues for a second season, the Masches’ support system has been assigned to give them regular reality checks, says Jenny, to help insure TV exposure doesn’t lead the family astray.

“We don’t pretend to be high-and-mighty,” says Bryan, whose wife agrees: “We told everyone around us, `If you EVER see us going in a certain direction that isn’t right, hit us! Put us in our place!’”

The show premiere’s Thursday night at 10pm on WE TV with Bailey, Savannah, Cole, Grant, Blake and Molli celebrating their second Birthday.

Masche Sextuplets To Star In “Raising Sextuplets”

Mega Multiples seem to be getting a lot of attention lately.

With the success of Jon and Kate Plus 8 and the arrival of the amazing octuplets today, networks are clamoring to profile these families.

The Masche Sextuplets will be the next Mega family to hit the small screen when the continuation of their show “Raising Sextuplets” airs on WE in June.

The family decided to do the show because they thought it was the perfect opportunity to document all six of their children’s lives. The show will follow the family and show how Bryan and Jenny Masche raise their three boys, Blake, Cole, and Grant and their three girls, Savannah, Molli, and Bailey, while still managing to keep full-time jobs. The family lives by themselves and manages to do everything by themselves; the only help the family does receive is from the sextuplets’ grandparents. To manage this, Bryan and Jenny have to maintain different work schedules. Brian works during the day as a pharmaceutical sales rep and Jenny works the night shift in the ER of Kingman Regional Medical Center as a physician’s assistant.

The couple’s adventure all began when they decided to try artificial insemination after not being able to have children on their own for two and a half years. On June 11, 2007 the sextuplets were born in Phoenix at the Good Samaritan Hospital through cesarean section. Jenny delivered the sextuplets at 30 weeks, eight weeks premature. After the delivery Jenny went into heart failure and nearly died. Luckily, Jenny is now well and happy and the family was blessed with six healthy babies who have no health issues.

It seems the world cannot get enough of the Masche Sextuplets.

The whole family appeared on The Today Show last week to give an update on how the babies are doing.

Meredith and the whole Today show crew have followed these babies from birth.

If you can’t get enough of the whole mega multiple phenomena than set your PVR’s to the Women’s Entertainment Network this evening.

Following in the footsteps of Jon and Kate Gosselin and Pete and Jenny Ferrill, Brian and Jenny Masche have allowed TV cameras into their home to document life with 6 babies.

This one episode update will show viewers what Brian and Jenny’s life is like now that they are caring for 6 small infants.

Masche Sextuplets Celebrate 1st Birthday!

One year ago today, Jenny and Brian Masche’s lives changed forever.

The Lake Havasu City couple welcomed sextuplets Blake, Grant and Bailey, Cole, Molli and Savannah.

Born at just 30 weeks 4 days gestation, 5 of the six babies arrived weighing less than than three pounds, with one going over the 3 pound mark.

Today, life at the Masche home is now filled with the giggles and cries of a half-dozen teething toddlers.

Jenny takes the ups and downs of mothering six kids at once in stride.

“You just don’t have an option,” she said. “You can hate every day or love every day. So I love every day.”

Her day starts at 7am when the sextuplets start to rustle in their cribs, waking up by chattering to each other. All of the babies are in the same room, but in separate cribs.

Four of the six kids are crawling. It’s normal for children to walk or attempt to walk by their first birthday, but doctors advised Jenny, as they do all parents with premature babies, to measure the progress of their children by their due date.

Even though six babies are healthy and right on schedule, Jenny knows that this is not always what happens with premature babies.

My heart really goes out to those who have gone through this and not had a healthy outcome,” she said. “It’s just plain hard.”

While some might think that having six kids would keep the family homebound, but Jenny and Brian have not slowed down their traveling.In the last year the whole family has managed to travel to Utah, Los Angeles to film Deal or No Deal and tomorrow, the entire crew will be in New York to appear on the Today show.

A couple of the babies have been to Texas, and all also have been to California to visit Jenny’s pregnant sister on a few occasions.

Jenny knows that the next stage of their lives will include eating, walking, talking and she wants it all to slow down.

“I feel like the last year has been a literal blink,” she said. “My days go by so fast. You’d think I want them to go fast, but I don’t.”

Having such a large family isn’t without its guilt. It is sometimes hard at times to be unable to tend to all of the children’s needs at once.

For instance, when one is sick and wanting to snuggle all day, Jenny thinks the others may feel neglected. “If you have one child at a time, the way God designed it, you can really comfort that child and give them what they need,” she said. “That’s really hard for me. You just kind of feel guilty in your heart.”
