For Maureen McCarthy there was nothing extraordinary about the new twin preemies admitted in her ward as she had seen many such cases every day of her life as a nurse. But as days went by, the routine job turned into first an instinctive call to care for them and later a crusade to adopt the fragile little babies even though she was single and working.
It has been 7 weeks since Josie Duggar’s dramatic entrance into the world. Arriving at 25 weeks gestation, weighing just 1lb. 6 ozs, the tiniest Duggar remains in intensive care at Arkansas Children’s Hospital to grow and develop.
During the month of November we contacted some families that had premature babies and posted their amazing stories to create awareness about the March of Dimes Prematurity Awareness Month.
The next amazing baby we would like to introduce you to is Amelia Pearl. This beautiful little girl was born on June 9th 2006 at only 23 weeks 4 days.
November is Prematurity Awareness Month. In honor of this, some parents who have had babies prematurely have offered to tell their stories to create awareness about his important cause.
To put a real spin on things, our next post is going to be with Cora. Cora is a NICU nurse and is also the mom to a preemie Amelia.
