Ryan and Trista Sutter show off the new daughter Blakesley Grace Sutter on the cover of Life & Style. The family opened up their home to the magazine recently to talk about the birth, adjusting to having a new baby in the house and the life-changing decision they made about having more children.

L&S: When Max was born, you had to be put under general anesthesia to have an emergency C-section. How were things different this time around?

Trista:

This birth was so much easier. Blakesley was born three weeks early, and I did have another C-section, but I didn’t need general anesthesia. I just walked into the hospital and put my gown on, and then my doctor came in and said, “Okay, it’s time.” I didn’t know you could just walk into the delivery room, because the last time, I was wheeled in on a hospital bed!

L&S: What was the best part of the delivery?

Trista:

Being able to hear her cry when she came out and then seeing her right away. With Max, I was under, and I didn’t wake up until several hours later. But this time I was able to hear her first cry and see Ryan there too.

L&S: How did you come up with the name Blakesley?

Trista:

It’s a family name. Ryan really loved the name Grace. At first we were calling her Gracie, but then we decided to stick with Blakesley.

L&S: How much sleep are you guys getting?

Trista:

Not so much! I mean, she’s a pretty good sleeper and sometimes sleeps for four or five hours at a time. But mostly, she’s up every two hours from the time she feeds. I try to take little naps when she sleeps. I also try to sneak in some sleep when Max is with Grandma or taking his own nap. Any new parent will tell you it’s hard, but it’s expected. And it’s a small price to pay to have her. It’s definitely worth it.

L&S: You and Ryan are the only couple from the Bachelor and Bachelorette shows to make it to the altar and start a family. What’s your secret?

Trista:

You know, it’s so hard to say. I will acknowledge that it’s difficult. You meet under these crazy circumstances, and then you get separated for three months, which was super hard. And I think some people just think they’re ready and then when they see the person again, they realize those feelings just aren’t there. I didn’t set out to be the only Bachelorette to get married. I just feel lucky and blessed that my life turned out this way.

Congratulations to Trista and Ryan Sutter on the safe arrival of their second baby – a girl!

Blakesley Grace Sutter arrived this afternoon at 1:23 p.m. by Caesarean section weighing 6 pounds, 2 ounces and measuring 19 inches

“She’s healthy. Everything is really good,” an exhausted Trista told Life & Style magazine.

The couple also has a son Maxwell Alston Sutter, 20 months.

Trista Sutter and husband Ryan Sutter recently celebrated the impending arrival of their second baby with family and friends at the Sonnenalp Resort of Vail in Colorado.

The couple, who already have a son, Max, 19 months, are set to welcome a baby girl in April.

Trista spoke exclusively with OK! Magazine about how her pregnancy is going and what Max thinks about being a big brother.

Here are the highlights:

How has the pregnancy been?

I feel good. Now I’m just tired. I’m due in mid-April so I’m trying to take it easy. I want her to go as close to term as possible because Max was four weeks early.

Have you had any scares?

I was in the hospital last week for dehydration. I got a cold and wasn’t keeping up with my fluids. I was having Braxton Hicks contractions, which are like fake contractions. I’ve had them throughout the pregnancy, once an hour or twice a day, but this was every 5 minutes. They rehydrated me and sent me home the next day.

Do you want more kids after this one?

No, I just feel lucky that I’ll have one of each. As long as she’s healthy, I’m going to have a permanent sterilization procedure done [a few months after the birth]. God forbid if she is unhealthy or we lose her, then I would try for another one.

Does Max know that he’s going to be an older brother?

He knows that my big belly is called “baby” and he knows what babies are. But, then again, last night he lifted up Ryan’s shirt and goes “baby” so I don’t think he quite gets it yet!

Do you think your new daughter will be a daddy’s girl?

Oh, absolutely. That was a big reason why I wanted a girl actually. Typically, it’s daddy’s girls and momma’s boys. I think it’s going to be so special to have a girl who will have her daddy wrapped around her little finger

“We found out a few weeks ago,” Trista tells the mag exclusively. “It was such a fun surprise. We went to our last ultrasound appointment with Ryan’s parents, my parents and Max (their 16-month-old son) and we were all in the room together when the doctor said, ‘It’s a girl.’ Everyone got so teary-eyed and emotional.”

Trista confides that while the baby’s gender wasn’t as important to her as the baby’s health, she can admit now she is ecstatic.

“I can’t wait to dress her up in cute little outfits. I’m such a girlie girl. It will be so much fun to do things like get manicures together.”

The couple has already picked out their little girl’s name, but they plan to keep it a secret until she arrives in April.

The “ruby red” themed ceremony celebrating romance was hosted by ‘America’s reigning reality couple’, as Trista and Ryan Sutter of The Bachelorette did the honors of breaking the traditional bottle of champagne to mark the ship’s launch.

Princess was just named the “Best Cruise Line for Romance” and “Best Cruise Line for Weddings” in the 2008 Cruise Critic Editors’ Picks Awards. The Ruby Princess naming ceremony continued the line’s tradition of romance with godparents Trista and Ryan.

What a great gig! I wonder if their Godparent role comes with some cruising perks?

The couple recently announced that they were expecting baby#2 due this spring!

Sharing the joyous news of their second pregnancy with the magazine, Trista, who’s just more than three months along, and Ryan express their excitement and fears about what this pregnancy will bring:

L&S: How soon after Max’s July 2007 birth did you start trying again?

Trista: I was only on birth control for a couple of months. We thought that if it took us as long as it did with Max — two years — why try to prevent it? So we started trying in January.

L&S: Were you surprised you were able to get pregnant so quickly?

Trista: I was in total shock! I took a few tests, and they all came back negative. But a few weeks after Max’s 1st birthday, all of a sudden I thought to myself, I don’t think I’ve had my period in a while. So I took another test — the line was extremely faint, but it was there!

L&S: Did you tell Ryan right away?

Trista: He was there. I had just taken the test when Ryan came up the stairs. I showed it to him and said, “I think I’m pregnant.” His first words were, “Holy crap!” It was positive shock, one of the best kinds you can have in your life.

L&S: After Max’s birth, you said you’d love to have a little girl. If you don’t have one this time, will you and Ryan keep trying?

Trista: I did say that — I’m such a girlie girl. But I’ve become really neutral about it all. I just want a really happy and healthy baby. I know that sounds cliché, but it’s the God’s honest truth. I would love to have a little girl, but I also love having a boy. Ryan has a brother, and they’re about the same age difference as Max will be with his new sibling. So it would be fun to have two boys, too.

L&S: So if you have another boy, will this baby be the last?

Trista: If we don’t have a girl, I’ve thought about the possibility of adopting. It came up in conversation because I’m leaning toward having my tubes tied! I think I’ll be happy with two kids. But then again, I was perfectly happy with just having Max. If we hadn’t been able to get pregnant again, I was 100 percent happy with my life. This new baby will just add a little bit more life and spirit and happiness and fun!

The Biggest Loser host Allison Sweeney brought her son Benjamin, 2, and Melissa Joan Hart showed of new baby Braydon.
