Unregulated Sperm Donations Causing Problems In Australia

Unregulated sperm donation has led to a situation where children from the same community are potentially at risk for incestuous relationships.

Reverend Dr. Andrew Dutney, a reproductive technology expert in South Australia, said in one reported case, about 30 lesbians living in Adelaide, Australia, were impregnated by the sperm from one man.

Those mothers organized picnics so the children could get to know one another as siblings, thus reducing the risk for future romantic relationships.

In another case, a man’s sperm produced 29 children, all of whom were living in Adelaide. These children are unaware who their siblings are.

All of these children were born about 10 years ago, which means they will reach adolescence in a few years.

In South Australia, the law says infertility treatments are only for infertile couples or those at risk for transmitting a serious defect. Thus, gays and lesbians generally have to find donors “outside the system,” Dutney said.

‘Pregnant Man’, Thomas Beatie Welcomes Baby Girl

Thomas Beatie, who achieved fame as the “pregnant man,” has given birth, to a baby girl.

Thomas had transitioned to a man in many ways – he removed his breasts – but kept his female sex organs because he hoped to have a child.

“Growing up I really didn’t have a perception of myself [as a girl],” the bearded Beatie told Oprah Winfrey in April.

“When I was a teenager I had an attraction to women, but it wasn’t a sexual attraction,” he said. “I was much of a tomboy who liked to play with Legos and go fishing … probably up until puberty I didn’t see anything wrong at all.

Thomas decided to switch sexes when he was 24 – he had his breasts surgically altered – but opted to keep his reproductive organs.

“I wanted to have a child one day,” he said. “I didn’t know how, and I had no plan laid out. It was just a dream.

“I have a very stable male gender identity,” he said. “I see pregnancy as a process. It doesn’t define who I am.”

The media frenzy over this story has always confused me. A woman, who has facial hair and no breasts is pregnant – big deal.

Could This Story Get ANY Crazier?

The Sun is now reporting that the ‘guy’ who is expecting a baby was pregnant with triplets, but the babies were found to be an ectopic pregnancy.

While he survived the ectopic pregnancy, he lost the triplets and his right Fallopian tube.

The transsexual, 34, who kept his female reproductive organs after a sex change, said: “It was a life-threatening event that required surgical intervention.”

The couple decided to try again – but Thomas had to inseminate himself at home with semen from a sperm bank after nine doctors refused to carry out the procedure on a man with a beard.

“They refused to call me by a male pronoun or recognise Nancy as my wife.” The Receptionists laughed at them.

“This whole process, from trying to get pregnant to being pregnant, has been a challenge.”

Thomas, who used to be lesbian Tracy LaGondino when living in Hawaii, was last night in hiding with Nancy after recording an interview with TV chatshow host Oprah Winfrey.
