Rebecca Davey, 18 has caused outrage and caught the attention of Social Services after she posted a picture on Facebook of her six-month-old son with an unlit cigarette in his mouth.

A online friend reported the inappropriate photo to police who then followed up with a visit to the teen’s house.

While they found there was ‘no immediate concerns’ for the child’s welfare, Social services has now also made inquiries.

Rebecca then updated her status to read: ‘Some w***** reported me to the police abwt picture off ollie.’ and then she declared her love for her son, writing: ‘Why Would SomeOne Do That To Me U Ollie No was taking U Yur Mine for lyfee Darlinggg Mummy Loves You ’

Her friends rushed to her support, with one writing on her page: ‘Some ppl r nosey f****** aint they!! dw [don't worry] ur a good mum they wont hassle u 4 long!!!’

But another said: ‘What chance has the kid got if the family behave like this?’

The photo has since been removed.

A Greensboro, N.C., organization has an interesting way of keep teens in their community on track. They pay girls between the ages of 12 and 18 $1 a day not to get pregnant.

College-Bound Sisters founder Hazel Brown said her program, which was started in 1996 at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, is focused on keeping the young women focused on education rather than early motherhood.

The organization has 3 goals for their members: avoid pregnancy, graduate from high school and enroll in college.

Female participants in the program, which is funded through a four-year state grant, are also required to attend weekly meetings to receive their financial incentives.

Any program member who becomes pregnant or leaves the program has her funds split among all remaining members.

Program director Laurie Smith said nearly all members who complete the program also graduate college.

DNA tests have revealed that the 13-year-old boy Alfie Patten is not the father of a baby born to a 15-year-old he had unprotected sex with once.

Chantelle Stedman told Alfie Patten, whowas 12 when he slept with her, he was her newborn daughter Maisie’s father.

The story caused a worldwide media frenzy, while politicians criticized what they called Britain’s declining morals.

At first the new mom said Alfie was the only boy she had ever slept with, but soon after other teens came forward saying they too could be the baby’s father, because they claimed to have had sex with the girl.

Last month a friend of the Stedman family claimed Alfie was scammed by the girl’s parents who wanted to cash in on the sensational story.

This is very sad for this 12-year-old and his family. This poor kid stood by this girl during her pregnancy and even stayed over at her house to help out with the baby.

What a whole lot of stress for no reason…

It is still not clear who the baby’s father is.

In a less than ideal situation, a 13 year-old boy and his 15 year-old girlfriend have welcomed a baby in the UK.

Baby-faced Alfie Patten, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.

The pair decided against an abortion after they discovered they were having a baby.

Maisie was conceived after Chantelle and Alfie, who was just 12 at the time, had a single night of unprotected sex.

They found out about the baby when Chantelle was 12 weeks pregnant.

But they kept it a secret until six weeks later when Chantelle’s mum Penny, 38, became suspicious about her weight gain and confronted her.

The baby and mommy were released from the hospital yesterday. They will be living with Chantelle’s dad, who is currently jobless, and her five brothers in a rented home. The family live on benefits.

Even though Alfie spends the nights, he still goes to school during the day.

While they are getting support from their parents, it doesn’t seem that either side is stepping up to do the bulk of the parenting duties.

Alfie’s dad, who is separated from his mom, believes the young dad is scared deep down.

He said: “Everyone is telling him things and it’s going round in his head. It hasn’t really dawned on him. He hasn’t got a clue of what the baby means and can’t explain how he feels. All he knows is mum and dad will help.”

I can’t imagine my son having a baby at 13… These kids have no idea how much work is involved in growing a healthy baby.

Heck some days, its too much work for me!

Police pulled the girl over on Saturday night and she recorded a level of 766 micrograms per litre of breath – more than five times the legal limit for her age of 150mcg.

Earlier in the week she had recorded a level of 828mcg – six times the legal limit – after she was spotted driving erratically.

She was placed in Child, Youth and Family (CYF) custody after the second incident, but did a runner when CYF officials tried to take her to a Ministry of Social development home in Auckland, Whangarei police Acting Sergeant Mike Greenwood said.

“When they got to Portland, she said she was feeling sick. When they stopped the car she opened the door and took off,” he told the Northern Advocate.

She has since turned up and is currently in the care of Child, Youth and Family.

This all comes after an 18-year-old father was found in the same town – drunk – with his 7-month old daughter, who was soaked in beer.

The father of the baby is said to be between 15 and 16 years old. The baby is currently being kept in the Hospital’s Premature Unit, while the mother is recuperating in the Maternity Ward.

Nurses at the hospital said the girl’s parents had visited the young mother and her baby. However, the boy’s parents have so far not shown up.

The two young parents have reportedly been referred to Social Services.

I’m speechless…12-year-olds are supposed to be hanging out with their friends, not having babies.

Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston arrived in Palmer, Alaska weighing 7 lb., 4 oz., baby boy.

“We think it’s wonderful,” said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”

The new mom is currently living in Wasilla while she completes her high-school diploma through correspondence courses.

She and the baby’s dad, Levi Johnston, an apprentice electrician, plan to marry in 2009 and raise the baby together.

The Candie’s Foundation’s “America, Wake Up” (pictured right) PSA campaign to prevent teenage pregnancy was due to run as a full-page advertisement in USA Today until the publication rejected the ad because they didn’t want to offend their readers.

USA Today began by explaining that it did not want to offend its readers and subsequently changed and re-changed its position until ultimately rejecting the PSA late Friday afternoon claiming they downsized the paper and “could not accommodate the ad.”

The Candie’s Foundation debuted the new campaign in honor of October being “Let’s Talk” month, that encourages parents to speak with kids about sex and teen pregnancy.

Neil Cole, Founder, The Candie’s Foundation, stated,

“This is very disappointing. We are trying to get across an important message about the devastating consequences of teen pregnancy and one of the key publications to reach parents and families is USA Today. The fact that they deem this PSA as offensive further drives home the key problem that the media is not addressing this issue.”

The Foundation will still run their PSA television spot tonight at 8pm on The CW during the hit show, “Gossip Girl.” The goal of the campaign is to act as a conversation starter for parents to talk to their children about teen pregnancy prevention.

The new mom, who is only known as Pamela, had her first set of female triplets aged 15, after giving birth to a son when she was just 14.
All seven children were born prematurely but without any kind of fertility treatment.

While doctors say the three newborns and their mother are well, the case has sparked debate across Argentina.

In bars and cafes, as well as the letters pages of newspapers, there has been widespread criticism of Pamela’s alleged promiscuity.

The girl’s family already receives help from the provincial authorities, which donated land and built them a house when the first set of triplets was born.

Pamela’s mother, who cleans houses to support her daughter and rapidly increasing number of grandchildren, says they will now seek more assistance from the government for the new additions to the family.

Many Argentine people believe that perhaps someone should sit Pamela and give her more advice on contraception.

With all of the controversy surrounding the circumstances on these births, I find it hard to believe that this mom will get any assistance from any groups in the community.

It’s sad because she is going to need a lot of help AND possibly her tubes tied. Will they tie tubes at 16?? probably not…
