In an almost unbelievable story, a New South Wales 12-year-old has given birth to a baby boy, after falling pregnant to her 15-year-old live-in boyfriend.

The young girl, who may only be in grade 7, will be raising the baby with the help of her mom.

Earlier this year the Department of Community Services (DoCS) had to apologise when it was revealed the girl’s father had warned them his daughter was sleeping with her boyfriend at her mother’s house.

The department admitted more should have been done to help the family, but the girl’s case had been overlooked by a stretched department.

The father told Woman’s Day magazine he did not think his daughter was up to the task of being a mother.

“She is only a baby herself and now she’s got a baby. She has no maternal instincts at all,” he said.

For privacy reasons, many details of this story have been kept private.

This whole thing is very unfortunate and sad. A parents job is to protect their kids from situations like this. Now this young girl will never have the chance to be a child.

Since its inception, Project Cuddle® has saved over 600 of babies across the country and into Canada from the fate of being abandoned, or worse. Aside from active work in the field, this amazing organization also seeks to raise public awareness of the problem of child abandonment.

Five years ago, actor John Stamos got involved with the charity while looking for something to devote his time and efforts to.

I really knew I could help this woman [Debbe]. She was working out of her garage saving babies. She started with an 800 number to find a place for abandoned babies, or if you’re thinking of abandoning your baby to call this number. She then would go help the pregnant teenagers or women and find parents for them.

His main role as spokesperson is to help spread the word about this organization. In his time with Project Cuddle®, the ER star says that he has had so many moving events since being involved it would be hard to pick just one.

Honestly, I’ve had so many. People come up to me and say, “I was going to abandon my baby and I saw you on ‘Ellen’”, or “We saw the Oprah piece and I didn’t [abandon]. I called Debbe.” Or parents will come up to me! I’ve had parents come up to me with this baby and say, “Thank you, because the birth mother saw you on television, heard you talking about it, called Debbe and now we have a baby because of it.”

A Greensboro, N.C., organization has an interesting way of keep teens in their community on track. They pay girls between the ages of 12 and 18 $1 a day not to get pregnant.

College-Bound Sisters founder Hazel Brown said her program, which was started in 1996 at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, is focused on keeping the young women focused on education rather than early motherhood.

The organization has 3 goals for their members: avoid pregnancy, graduate from high school and enroll in college.

Female participants in the program, which is funded through a four-year state grant, are also required to attend weekly meetings to receive their financial incentives.

Any program member who becomes pregnant or leaves the program has her funds split among all remaining members.

Program director Laurie Smith said nearly all members who complete the program also graduate college.

DNA tests have revealed that the 13-year-old boy Alfie Patten is not the father of a baby born to a 15-year-old he had unprotected sex with once.

Chantelle Stedman told Alfie Patten, whowas 12 when he slept with her, he was her newborn daughter Maisie’s father.

The story caused a worldwide media frenzy, while politicians criticized what they called Britain’s declining morals.

At first the new mom said Alfie was the only boy she had ever slept with, but soon after other teens came forward saying they too could be the baby’s father, because they claimed to have had sex with the girl.

Last month a friend of the Stedman family claimed Alfie was scammed by the girl’s parents who wanted to cash in on the sensational story.

This is very sad for this 12-year-old and his family. This poor kid stood by this girl during her pregnancy and even stayed over at her house to help out with the baby.

What a whole lot of stress for no reason…

It is still not clear who the baby’s father is.

In a less than ideal situation, a 13 year-old boy and his 15 year-old girlfriend have welcomed a baby in the UK.

Baby-faced Alfie Patten, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.

The pair decided against an abortion after they discovered they were having a baby.

Maisie was conceived after Chantelle and Alfie, who was just 12 at the time, had a single night of unprotected sex.

They found out about the baby when Chantelle was 12 weeks pregnant.

But they kept it a secret until six weeks later when Chantelle’s mum Penny, 38, became suspicious about her weight gain and confronted her.

The baby and mommy were released from the hospital yesterday. They will be living with Chantelle’s dad, who is currently jobless, and her five brothers in a rented home. The family live on benefits.

Even though Alfie spends the nights, he still goes to school during the day.

While they are getting support from their parents, it doesn’t seem that either side is stepping up to do the bulk of the parenting duties.

Alfie’s dad, who is separated from his mom, believes the young dad is scared deep down.

He said: “Everyone is telling him things and it’s going round in his head. It hasn’t really dawned on him. He hasn’t got a clue of what the baby means and can’t explain how he feels. All he knows is mum and dad will help.”

I can’t imagine my son having a baby at 13… These kids have no idea how much work is involved in growing a healthy baby.

Heck some days, its too much work for me!

Police pulled the girl over on Saturday night and she recorded a level of 766 micrograms per litre of breath – more than five times the legal limit for her age of 150mcg.

Earlier in the week she had recorded a level of 828mcg – six times the legal limit – after she was spotted driving erratically.

She was placed in Child, Youth and Family (CYF) custody after the second incident, but did a runner when CYF officials tried to take her to a Ministry of Social development home in Auckland, Whangarei police Acting Sergeant Mike Greenwood said.

“When they got to Portland, she said she was feeling sick. When they stopped the car she opened the door and took off,” he told the Northern Advocate.

She has since turned up and is currently in the care of Child, Youth and Family.

This all comes after an 18-year-old father was found in the same town – drunk – with his 7-month old daughter, who was soaked in beer.

The father of the baby is said to be between 15 and 16 years old. The baby is currently being kept in the Hospital’s Premature Unit, while the mother is recuperating in the Maternity Ward.

Nurses at the hospital said the girl’s parents had visited the young mother and her baby. However, the boy’s parents have so far not shown up.

The two young parents have reportedly been referred to Social Services.

I’m speechless…12-year-olds are supposed to be hanging out with their friends, not having babies.

Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston arrived in Palmer, Alaska weighing 7 lb., 4 oz., baby boy.

“We think it’s wonderful,” said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”

The new mom is currently living in Wasilla while she completes her high-school diploma through correspondence courses.

Senator McCain knew of Bristol’s pregnancy when he selected Sarah as his running mate last week, Reuters reported.

While a pregnancy at 17 is not ideal, It is nice to see that Sarah has spoken out publicly about her support for her daughter.

If more parents supported their teenage daughters, we wouldn’t have so many abandoned babies.

Time.com is reporting that officials are investigating whether half of the teens made a pact to get pregnant during the school year.

Beginning last fall a large group of girls started asking the school clinic for pregnancy tests.

“Some girls seemed more upset when they weren’t pregnant than when they were,” principal Joseph Sullivan told Time.com.

The pregnancy rate at the 1,200-student school is four times higher than the previous year, and officials were shocked to learn that men in their 20s had fathered some of the babies, the article said.

“We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy,” Sullivan told

The girls who made the pregnancy pact—some of whom, according to Sullivan, reacted to the news that they were expecting with high fives and plans for baby showers—declined to be interviewed. So did their parents. But Amanda Ireland, who graduated from Gloucester High on June 8, thinks she knows why these girls wanted to get pregnant. Ireland, 18, gave birth her freshman year and says some of her now pregnant schoolmates regularly approached her in the hall, remarking how lucky she was to have a baby. “They’re so excited to finally have someone to love them unconditionally,” Ireland says. “I try to explain it’s hard to feel loved when an infant is screaming to be fed at 3 a.m.”

These young girls have NO idea what they have done. The unconditional love part doesn’t come until you have spent many thankless years of your life changing diapers, preparing food, teaching them everything you know and giving them all of your money! If I hadn’t had my husband to relieve me after a colicky day, I am not sure I would have hair or nerves now…

A baby is not a doll, it cannot be turned off and it certainly can’t be put away when the excitement has worn off.
