The Airfarewatchdog.com study reveals how frustrating most passengers find it to sit near children on flights — with about 85 percent wanting young children to be in a different part of the plane, according to PRNewswire.

When asked, “Should airlines have a section of the plane reserved for parents with babies and smaller children?” about 58 percent of respondents answered, “Yes, they should have done this long ago,”.

A few parents commented on the Airfarewatchdog.com message boards that they would feel better sitting near other parents in their situation because they’d be more understanding than business travelers or adults traveling without kids.

The Air Transport Association said it would be hard to create a children’s section on flights.

The ATA’s David Castelveter said such a plan would be “logistically difficult” to execute because of increasingly crowded flights.

Our family flies 3 or 4 times a year and we have good and bad flights with our son. For the most part we have found that it is other passengers who have cause us to not have a good flight, like the time that we finally got our son to sleep and a rude passenger decided to scream at the flight attendant right in front of our seat.

It caused him to wake up crying and it took us 45 minutes to calm him down. Another time another crying baby woke him up and again, it took us 45 minutes to calm him down.

So do I think that they should put all of the crying babies together? NO, because once I get mine to sleep I want him to stay that way for the whole flight.

My new solution? The Inglesina Fast Hook-On Table Seat. Ingenious, I tell you.

It’s completely portable so it’s perfect for taking to restaurants, friends’ houses and on extended holidays. The seat hooks on to just about any table and safely brings your little one (up to 30lbs) to the right height for accessing finger foods or toys. The chair padding is removable and comes in a variety of colours. So far, I haven’t had to wash mine because the padding and three-point harness straps are easy to simply wipe clean.

Attaching the seat is easy… just twist the handles clockwise to loosen and counter-clockwise to tighten to the table. Then, adjust the three-point harness to give your child a snug, secure fit. When you’re done, just unscrew the handles and fold in the sides. There is even an attached carry-bag for added convenience and portability.

This is a great product for anyone wanting to take a little one out for dinner (or anywhere else that may not provide the comforts of a baby-friendly home). And at a price point of about $40, it’s a great investment for the family on the go.

If you are planning to travel via the US Airways Group, bring your own snacks because the airline announced today that it will eliminate free snacks in coach class on all its domestic flights starting June 1st.

US Airways spokesman Morgan Durrant said the move to cut free snacks was needed to save money in a time of extremely high fuel costs. The price of jet fuel has soared this year with crude oil prices in the $130-per-barrel range.

The good news? Thirsty family members will still be able to have a complimentary soft drinks. Well at least for the next month…

My Tip: Fly Jetblue! Our family prefers the larger seats, great service and personal TV’s.

During our trip to Puerto Rico in February we were offered a multitude of snacks and beverages. The staff didn’t bat an eyelash when I asked for an extra bag of yummy cookies. In fact they came through the cabin twice with snacks and beverages during our flight from JFK to San Juan. LOVE IT!!
