Houston Hospital Delivers 3 Sets Of Triplets In One Day

While having triplets used to be a rare occurrence, fertility treatments have made them much more common. In fact, this week, a Houston hospital welcomed three sets in one day.

The nine babies were all welcomed into the world at Texas Women’s Hospital. There was one set of boys, one set of girls and a third set of two boys and one girl.

“We are so pleased for our new parents,” said Linda Russell, CEO, The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. “Last year our physicians delivered 321 sets of twins, 27 sets of triplets, 4 sets of quadruplets, and one set up quintuplets; so multiples are not new to us. But, it is unique to have three sets of triplets in a 24 hour period.”

The three families had been blogging online about having triplets when they learned they would all be delivering at The Women’s Hospital of Texas.

Amber Ali and Andre Whitaker are proud parents with a very interesting story.

They were expecting to have one baby, but they ended up having three.

While that would be somewhat normal in this new era of fertility treatments, Amber’s story is extraordinary because she is a triplet.

That’s right, Amber was a triplet having triplets.

“Naturally conceived triplets… we couldn’t believe this is for real,” said Sinai Grace Hospital Physician’s Assistant Kimberley Mix. What are the odds? “We actually can not find any data,” she said.

However, there is more to Amber’s story. On top of being a triplet, she also has twin sisters.

This clearly runs in the family. But will her sister’s follow in her footsteps?

Not likely,

“After seeing me having triplets, they don’t want to take that risk,” Ali said.

Amir, Armon and Amari will be released from the hospital soon and mom can not wait to get her newborn baby boys home so she can start dressing them alike.

We think she should get some sleep, while the boys have 24 hour nursing care because once they are home dreamland will be a thing of the past!

56-year-old Gives Birth To Triplet Grandchildren

Not only has a 56-year-old Ohio woman given birth to triplets, but they’re her own granddaughters.

Jaci Dalenberg, of Wooster, Ohio, carried the babies as a surrogate for her daughter, Kim Coseno.

The set of identical twins and their sister were born by Caesarean section Oct. 11 at the Cleveland Clinic’s Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights and are still in the hospital’s care. They were more than two months premature and each weighed less than three pounds.

A Cleveland Clinic news release says infants and grandmother are all doing well.

According to a Clinic spokesman, Jaci offered herself as a surrogate when Kim Coseno and her husband, Joe, were waiting to adopt. The couple used in vitro fertilization, and embryos were implanted in Dalenberg’s uterus.

It seems to be a growing trend for grandmothers to carry their daughter’s babies. We have seen this situation (with less babies) a few times over the last few years.

Soldier Arrives Home Just In Time To See Triplets Birth

Army Staff Sergeant Richard Napier rushed home from Afghanistan last week to be with his wife Margaret for the birth on their triplets at Good Shepherd Medical Center on Tuesday.

And today was their first chance to hold son Pierce, and daughters Addison and Kinzley.

“I was about 19 weeks pregnant when he deployed and we just had them at 31 weeks,” said Margaret Napier.

Margaret was worried Richard might not make it home in time.

“I figured he would probably be home about 3 weeks after they were born,” said Richard.

Seeing his children , Napier feels a sense of what he’s protecting.

“Just, wow. Of course now, it’s what you based everything on that you’re fighting for anyway,” said Richard.

Though Richard will have to return to his unit, he won’t forget this leave. Staff Sergeant Napier is scheduled to go back to Afghanistan October 14th, but is trying to get an extension on his leave.

The babies are expected to stay in the hospital for another 4 weeks or so.

UPDATE: 59 year-old Woman Welcomes Triplets in Paris

The 59-year-old woman who was awaiting the birth of her triplets as delivered them, a hospital spokeswoman in Paris confirmed today.

The two boys and a girl, who arrived by Caesarean section at the Cochin hospital late on Saturday night, arrived weighing between 2.1 kg and 2.4 kg. The mother and the babies were all in good health.

News of the woman’s pregnancy has drawn widespread criticism in the French media since it was made public last week. It is illegal in France to provide fertility treatment to women who are no longer at an age when they can procreate naturally.

“On this particular point, scientific progress is not good for mankind,” said Andre Vingt-Trois, a Catholic archbishop, quoted by Monday’s Le Parisian newspaper.

I guess my issue with this is that I can’t believe that this mom is going to have the energy to look after 3 tiny babies and keep herself healthy, unless she is wealthy enough to have the help of a nanny.

It really isn’t fair to the babies to have parents who may not get to see many of the big moments in the life.

Even if this mom lives to be 90, and she could, she still may not see one of even all three babies get married or have their first child…

Twin Sisters Give Birth to Triplets

For five of the six years Darla and Mark Pritchard have been married, they’ve been trying to start a family.

Two attempts at in-vitro fertilization had failed, and they were about to make a third try when Darla’s twin sister, Dana Johnson, offered to be a surrogate, to up the odds of success. Darla and Mark took her up on the offer.

In a twist of fate, both women, 39, got pregnant when eggs fertilized by Mark were implanted.

On Feb. 27, Darla gave birth to twins, Mallory and Wesley and, six weeks later, Dana had a girl, Mattie.

The babies are considered triplets and biological siblings. All three will be raised by Darla and Mark. “They’re from the same batch of eggs, same batch of sperm, and so they are considered triplets — they just have different birthdays,” Darla said

47 year-old Grandmother Welcomes Triplets: Naturally

Janelle Perry, a grandma from Australia, has given birth to naturally conceived triplet boys in a ‘one-in-a-million’ delivery at Brisbane’s Mater Mothers’ Hospital.

Janelle delivered Cooper, Kyle and Jordan by caesarean section last week.

The babies arrived at 34 weeks gestation and doctors are “99.9 percent certain” the boys are identical.

On arrival, Cooper weighed 3 pounds, 4 ounces; Kyle weighed three pounds, 6 ounces; and Jordan weighed three pounds, five ounces.

The new mom, who turns 47 next week, now has eight children. She said she is adamant that is enough. She had four children when she was in their 20s from a previous marriage and has a daughter, Rebecca, 4, with husband Robert.

After being given a five percent chance of having another child naturally and trying unsuccessfully for two years to have more children, the couple sold all their baby things last October.

“We thought: ‘Oh well. It’ll probably never happen’. We’d sort of given up,” Perry said.”Rebecca kept telling me in November: ‘You’ve got three babies in your tummy, Mummy – one for me, one for Dad and one for you’. I thought: ‘No way’ and told her: ‘There are no babies in there’. Then, in December, I found out I was pregnant.”

Now that the boys are here, the couple is trying to figure out how to keep things organized.

“I’ll probably have to use different colored nail polish on them to tell them apart,” she added. “I don’t want to get them mixed up. We’ve got to get a whiteboard so we can write down who’s been fed and how much. Getting into a routine, that’s the main thing.”

UK Teen Welcomes Identical Triplets

A teenager in Liverpool showed off her three little miracles – identical newborn triplet girls.

Staff at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, who delivered the tiny babies on Saturday, said it was extremely rare to conceive triplets naturally.

The fact that Shauny, Summer and Savanah are identical makes them extra special.

Proud mum Siobhan Daly, 17, said she and boyfriend Dean Mao, 16, were shocked when she fell pregnant because she was on the pill.

The babies arrived at 31 weeks pregnant by caesarean section weighing 3lb 9oz, 3lb 14oz and 3lb 2oz.

Even though twins run in both families, identical babies are spontaneous. Siobhan’s egg simply split twice, which created the triplets.

While this is believed to be a rare occurrence, there have been a lot of parents have identical triplets this year.

We wish this couple the best! The young age will be an advantage when the babies need to play.

Update: 16 Year Old Agentine Mom Welcomes SECOND Set Of Triplets

When I covered this story in February the only details about this mom that were given were her first name.

IBNlive posted an update with photos of the family that I thought our readers would be interested in seeing.

Pamela, 17, bore all seven children in just three pregnancies, having her first boy in 2005 when she was 14 and the other six girls in two deliveries of triplets in the following two years. The busy mom and her children currently sleep in the living room of her mother Magdalena home, who supports them all by house cleaning.

The father of Pamela’s first son abandoned them, the father of the first set of triplets was forced out of the house by the family for beating her, and Pamela refuses to identify the father of the more recent triplets.

Magdalena requested to have her daughter’s fallopian tubes tied to avoid any further pregnancies, but was denied as Argentine law prohibits the procedure to be done on minors.

The babies are all very cute but this story is very sad. Having a baby is supposed to be a blessing. It’s just hard to see that when this young girl has so many before she can even get an education.

Uk Couple Show Off Their Identical Triplets

For an event that is supposed to only occur once in 200 million births, this has been the year of the identical triplets.

Richard Rees, 22, and his 23-year-old fiance Carmela Testa, who is a midwife welcomed a set of Identical triplets in January at 33 weeks gestation.

At birth the 3 girls weighed between 3lb 4oz and 3lb 10oz and spent three weeks in an incubator until they were strong enough to go home.

When Carmela found out she was expecting triplets she was shocked.

“They weren’t planned. I’m quite small – only 5ft tall – so at the unit they joked that out of all the midwives it would have to be me that gave birth to triplets.”She added: “Everything is fine now and the girls are all putting on weight. I’m so overwhelmed when I see them. I can’t believe they are mine and that they are perfect.”

Even though the girls are identical, the couple doesn’t have any trouble telling them apart.

“Olivia has a strawberry birthmark on her neck, Gabriella is a little bit smaller and Alessia has a sharper cry,” explained Mr Rees, a vocational coach.

Identical triplets occur when one fertilized egg splits to create three embryos which grow separately but normally in the womb.
