The New Zealand mom, who discovered that she has two completely separate wombs a rare condition called uterus didelphys when she was a teenager, later successfully carryied her two sons, Trent, 7, and Logan, 3, in her right womb.

When she became pregnant again earlier this year, Liz, 32, couldn’t wait to find out which womb was housing her baby. Thrilled at the news of an addition to the family, her husband Jason, 39, offered to take time off work and come along to the ultrasound scan.

”But I didn’t think it was going to be a big deal, so I went alone,” recalls Liz.

However when the five-million-to-one bombshell was revealed, she immediately wished Jason had been at her side.

“The doctor asked how I would react if he told me I was having twins and that there was a baby in each womb,” says Liz. “I told him it wasn’t funny.”

The babies are due in the new year! We wish this family good luck.

Lindsay Hasaj, who was diagnosed with a dual reproductive system or uterus didelphys in November, gave birth to Mirela Elizabeth by Caesarean section last week.

The miracle baby arrived weighing a healthy 6lb 3oz by Caesarian section.

Although eight in 10,000 women have some form of uterus didelphys only one in a million have Lindsay’s anatomy, which is a double womb, double cervix and double vagina.

The unusual condition was discovered during a scan that she had two wombs, an anatomical irregularity that halved her chances of fertilization and complicated her pregnancy.

She had to have scans every two weeks and even the tiniest problem left her with sleepless nights and trips to the hospital.

Henry Annan, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and spokesman for the Royal Free Hospital, said:

‘The important thing is not to think of this woman as abnormal.

‘One in 1,000 women have a variation of some kind with their reproductive system, only hers is very rare.

‘With a pregnancy like this everyday complications such as premature labour and the baby not being born in a normal way can take on another dimension.

‘I would also reduce the chance of fertilization by 50 per cent. She’s done very well to conceive and give birth the way she has.’

Earlier this year a Michigan mom with 2 wombs welcomed twins, 1 from each womb.

But five weeks later, the 27-year old received a bigger surprise – doctors told her she had a dual reproductive system, with the baby growing in one of her two wombs.

Her condition – which means that she also has two cervixes and two vaginas – halves the chance of fertilisation.

Her rare condition, uterus didelphys, had not been detected because her body is normal externally.

In November she went to hospital with a pain in her abdomen that she feared was caused by an ectopic pregnancy – when a baby grows outside the womb.

Once that was ruled out, more tests were ordered. Just ten minutes into her ultrasound, it was determined that Lindsay had two wombs and two cervixes.

Although eight in 10,000 women in the UK have some form of uterus didelphys, only one in a million has exactly Lindsay’s anatomy. She has one entrance to her vagina, which then divides into two internally.

The condition does pose some problems because the two wombs are considerably weaker than a normal one.

Now three months pregnant, Lindsay needs to have her cervix checked every 2 weeks and may need hormones to strengthen it.

This will probably be her only baby and her dreams of a large family are unlikely to be fulfilled. ‘I’m just happy that I’ve been given the chance to be a mum at least once,’ she said.
