Doctors Save The Life Of 24 Weeker With Viagra

Desperate doctors administered Viagra to save the life of severely ill baby Lewis Goodfellow. Born prematurely at only 1lb 8oz with underdeveloped lungs, Lewis was struggling to receive enough oxygen in his blood. By opening small blood vessels in the lungs, the male impotence drug helped carry the much-needed oxygen throughout his body.

After spending five months in the hospital, Lewis is now thriving at home with his parents, weighing 10lb 7oz and showing remarkable progress. His parents never gave up hope, even when faced with the possibility of stopping treatment.

Thanks to the prayers and the diligent efforts of nurses, doctors, and consultants, Lewis made it through. Being one of the first babies to receive the drug, also known as Sildenafil, at the Royal Victoria Infirmary’s special baby care unit in Newcastle, Lewis’s successful case gives hope for future premature babies.

Sildenafil is a relatively new treatment that has shown promise in full-term babies, and while its efficacy in preterm babies is still being investigated, it has already shown positive results in around six cases at the hospital. Lewis’s journey was a challenging one, including open heart surgery at just three weeks old and laser surgery on his eyes in November.

However, thanks to the innovative use of Viagra and the dedication of the medical team, Lewis has defied the odds and his family can finally experience the joy of being a complete and healthy family.
