Baby Girl Born with Four Legs in South Africa to Undergo Amputation Surgery

In a remarkable medical case, a baby girl was born with four legs near the town of Polokwane in South Africa. Doctors have determined that amputating two of the limbs will give her the best chance at a full recovery and a normal life.

The provincial health department spokesperson, Phuti Seloba, expressed optimism, stating, “Our medical specialists have closely examined her and believe she can overcome this challenge. The baby is responding well, and the surgery will be performed soon.”

This unique birth has caught the attention of the local community, with a 23-year-old woman giving birth at the hospital. Medical professionals confirm that this is the first instance of this kind at this institution.

While the cause of this abnormality remains unknown, it is worth noting that a similar case occurred in Zambia four years ago. In that instance, a baby was born with an extra hand and kidney, believed to be a result of incomplete fetal growth and the multiplication of cells that would typically lead to the birth of Siamese twins.

The upcoming surgery offers hope for a healthy future for this courageous baby girl.
