Multiple Births quadruplets

New Orleans Hospital Delivers Triplets and Quadruplets Within 24-hour Period

If you read our site on a regular basis, you will know that multiples births are definitely on the rise over the last few years. This year alone we have reported on 4 sets of sextuplets, 6 sets of quints, 1 sets of identical quads and 3 sets of identical triplets.

So, I guess it doesn’t surprise me to read that a New Orleans hospital delivered a set of quads and a set of triplets in a 24 hour period.

A New Orleans couple welcomed quadruplets: four girls — one set of identical twins and one set of fraternal twins, and less than 24 hours earlier, doctors delivered a set of triplets: three boys.

“It’s been a busy 24 hours in the NICU,” exclaims Dr. Harley Ginsberg. “What makes this even more exciting is that the Quads birth was the first set of quadruplets delivered at Ochsner Medical Center in nearly five years.” Ginsberg goes on to say that “mothers and babies are doing well thanks to the multi-disciplinary team of specialists and sub-specialists at Ochsner.”

The quads were welcomed beginning at 6:24 p.m. Tuesday by parents Matt and Alisha Murphy.

The babies weighed between 3 pounds 6 oz. and 4 pounds 3 ounces and are named Molly, Elizabeth, Margaret and Carolyn.

The triplets were welcomed beginning at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday by parents George and Pamela Kocke.

The boys weighed between 4 pounds 2.5 ounces and 4 pounds 10 oz. and are named Linus, Oliver and Miles. They are the first babies for the Kocke family.

Just 2 weeks ago, we reported that a Wisconsin Doctor delivered 4 sets of twins in 24 hours.

I guess two is the new one… or four is the new two.
