A Night At The Movies ~ Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked

Last night I decided to treat the kids to a night at the movies. This was an ambitious decision as my youngest is only 2.5 and my son, who is six, has only been to one movie and he didn’t love the experience. To guarantee that our outing was a success, I enlisted the help of my sister and chose a movie that I knew they would both love.

Alvin and the Chipmunks- Chip-Wrecked

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked is the third installment in the ‘Chipmunks’ franchise.  A hit right from the beginning, this movie is full of laughs, cute moments and lots of performances from the furry stars.  Set on the Carnival Dream, the Chipmunks only spend a short time on the luxurious cruise boat before they are swept away to a deserted island.  Here, they work together to survive and find their ‘dad’ Dave (Jason Lee).

We have the original and ‘the squeakquel'( the second one) so both of my boys were familiar with the characters and knew some of their songs.

I was, however,  a little concerned that this movie wouldn’t hold my little guy’s attention because he’s the one that normally gets up and wanders around while we are watching movies at home.  To my surprise there was enough action and catchy moments to keep him in his seat dancing.

Another plus for us was that the movie was only 90 minutes – just long enough to keep them interested without making them restless.

If you have a couple free hours over the holiday Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked is a good choice.  The characters are fun to watch and the music will keep them moving.

Now, we just have to wait for it to come out on video.  And yes, they’ve already asked.
