Canadian parents. Please check your baby’s formula. Abbott Laboratories today issued a recall of their Calcilo XD infant formula powder from the marketplace due to rancidity and off-color.

Consumption of rancid food may cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Health Canada reports that there have been reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

This is especially dangerous for babies as their are more susceptable to illnesses because their immune systems are immature. The lack of antibodies and immunity in a newborn’s immune system means they can’t fight off bacteria, viruses or fungi in the same way older children may be able to.
