Carmel Twins Arrive Different Years, Different Decades!

UPDATED!

Every year there is a set of twins that arrive across the new year making them a year apart but this year a set of twins can now boast they are were born in different decades!

Dawn Gilliam and Jason Tello welcomed twin babies — a daughter at 11:37 p.m. on Dec. 31 and a son at 12:07 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Ascension St. Vincent in Carmel. Only 20 minutes apart, the siblings were born in different years.

The twins weren’t due for another 7 weeks, but they arrived for New Years!

Joslyn weighed just 4 pounds and 11 ounces at birth and was 17.9 inches long, while Jaxon weighed 4 pounds and 4 ounces and was 18.1 inches long.

“We were surprised how big they were,” Dawn told The Indy Channel. “We joked about it before knowing that we were in labor.”

This will mean that they won’t attend school at the same time and will be in different grades down the road!  (Corrected:  As a Canadian, the school cut off is December 31st.  Thankfully for these two cutoff in Indiana is August so they will be able to attend the same grade!)

Ten years ago, identical twins, Stefano and Marcello made an early entrance at 30 weeks across 2009/2010.  At the time their proud father said it was a blessing they arrived on different dates as “they will have different parties.”
