Last night The Costume Institute at Metropolitan Museum held their yearly Gala in New York City. Inspired by an exhibition that will run from May 9 through August 14, 2013 at the MET, the theme was PUNK: Chaos to Couture. While the exhibit ‘will examine punk’s impact on high fashion from the movement’s birth in the 1970s through its continuing influence today’, celebrities took the theme and ran ~ some in the wrong direction.
We have rounded up all of our favorite celebrity moms who showed off their style on the red carpet last night. Instead of going punk some were just beautiful.
Claire Danes in J Mendel, Katie Holmes in Calvin Klein, Heidi Klum in Marchesa and Doutzen Kroes in Olivier Theyskens.
These women have been rocking the red carpet for years and know how to pull off classy, elegant looks.
Gisele Bundchen, however, took the assignment and nailed it in an Anthony Vacarello mini, which was accessorized with David Yurman jewelry. Note she has spikes in her shoes!
Never one to hold back, Madonna was punk school girl a Givenchy Haute Couture grey studded tartan jacket, a ripped fishnet body stocking and pink Casadei pumps. Why wear pants when the gusset of your tights is dark enough?
Always edgy and radiant, Sarah Jessica Parker walked the red carpet in a Giles Deacon printed ballgown which was accessorized with Louis Vuitton thigh-high velvet tartan boots and an extravagant Philip Treacy mowhawk gold headpiece.
Beyonce showed up as Sasha Fierce in a Givenchy gown and matching boots. The singer flew in from London to attend the event and will fly back today to perform in Manchester this evening.
Mom-to-be Kim Kardashian was the talk of the town in a very rosy gown by Givenchy. Perez Hilton reports that the dress needed to be modified 5 times to accommodate Kim’s growing frame. At the last minute the reality star’s stylist opted to put arms on the dress to hide her arms(and hands?).
Inside the rapper ditched his suit and performed for the crowd in a Givenchy skirt.
