Fat Brain Toy Co. has issued a recall for approximately 5,100 PlayTab Rollers Tile toys in the U.S. (plus an additional 380 sold in Canada) due to a serious safety hazard involving magnets. The affected tiles were sold between July and November 2024 and may violate federal toy safety regulations.
The recall applies to the PlayTab Rollers Tile toys, which were sold both individually and as part of the PlayTab Sensory Set 3. These tiles are designed for use with the PlayTab Modular Activity Board and feature blue, red, and green rubberized rollers that children can touch and spin.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled toys contain magnets that can come loose. If a child swallows more than one high-powered magnet, they can attract each other inside the body and cause serious internal injuries. These may include perforations, twisting or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning, or even death.
This type of hazard violates mandatory federal regulations for toy magnets, which aim to prevent such life-threatening injuries.
To date, no injuries or incidents have been reported.
The recalled items were sold through specialty toy, book, and educational stores nationwide, as well as online at fatbraintoys.com.
