Officials said the product, labeled with the lot number PDC701, was found to be contaminated with yeast and might pose serious health risks, especially for children with weakened immune systems. The medication’s manufacturer, Euro-Pharm International Canada Inc., said PediaCol is available at pharmacies across Canada and over the Internet.

Consumers can return the unopened product to the place of purchase and should also discard any bottles that might have been used to store the medication.
