Abandoned Babies

Mother Gets 30 Days For Leaving Baby Alone

In a startling case of negligence, a Redwood City woman has been sentenced to a month in jail for leaving her 8-month-old infant unattended while she stole over $600 worth of baby formula from a local Target store. Kamara Vasilakos pleaded no contest to felony grand theft and misdemeanor child endangerment after her crimes were uncovered.

According to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, Vasilakos had initially claimed that she left her child at home with another family member while her husband was at softball practice. However, when authorities conducted a welfare check, they discovered the baby alone and crying in the crib.

Further investigation revealed that Vasilakos had been on a spree of stealing baby formula and diapers, which she then sold on Craigslist. This shocking behavior highlights the lengths some individuals will go to for personal gain at the expense of their own child’s safety.

As a consequence of her actions, Vasilakos has been sentenced to three years of probation and 30 days in county jail. She has been ordered to report to jail on August 11th.

It is disheartening to see such disregard for the well-being of a helpless infant, especially when there are parents out there desperately praying for the health and safety of their own children. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of nurturing and protecting our most vulnerable members of society.
