Mt. Sinai Neo-Natal Unit Closed

In a distressing turn of events, Toronto’s Mt. Sinai Hospital has been forced to close part of its neo-natal unit after a baby tragically passed away from a highly feared bacterial infection. Additionally, another infant has been affected by the same harmful pathogen, although their condition is not considered severe at this time.

To ensure the safety of its most vulnerable patients, the NICU area at Mt. Sinai Hospital remains closed as a precautionary measure. Moreover, stringent hygiene protocols have been implemented throughout other areas of the hospital.

This unfortunate incident marks the second time within three months that Toronto has witnessed the closure of a NICU. In March, Women’s College Hospital had to shut down their unit due to a widespread infection outbreak.

Rest assured, our dedicated medical professionals are working tirelessly to contain the situation and provide the utmost care and protection for all patients.
