VIDEO Room Tour – Embassy Suites Times Square New York City

This year for Spring break I took my kids to New York City.

When planning for our three-night stay I was looking for a clean, well-appointed hotel that was central to all the sites we planned to visit. After reading the reviews online and planning our itinerary we landed on the Embassy Suites Times Square on 37th Street.

If you are planning to visit here is our experience.

We arrived at 2 pm to check in but rooms were unavailable until 4 so we checked our bags with the porter and set out to explore.

The lobby did get busy at check-in time so the wait was about 30 minutes to get our room assigned.

I booked a Junior Suite, 1 King Bed with Sofa Bed (Empire Skyview). Our room was located on the 30th floor and it had everything we needed.

The bathroom was well-lit with a shower and toiletries.

The main room was split into two spaces – the king bed and the sofa bed space. This was the first time I had seen a room laid out like this. Given the space constraints in NYC, the design team did a great job of packing what we needed into a compact space.

The sofa bed came with a high back that creates a faux wall to give mom and dad privacy if you’re staying as a family. This area had a desk, beverage center, and television.

The king bed on the other side of the wall also faced its own television.

This was ideal for us as I was traveling with my two boys and it would be nice for them to be able to watch different things on tv after a day of exploring.

Unfortunately, the televisions in the room did not work the entire time we were staying with the hotel. We contacted the front desk on many occasions and received a variety of reasons why. The main thread was the satellite was broken and they had a team working on it. This was frustrating because we do like to enjoy some TV before and after we spend the day out and this wasn’t an option for us.

A bright spot for us, however, was the view of the Empire state building from our room. I don’t think I have ever had such a beautiful room view in New York City. Day and night it was pretty spectacular. I highly recommend booking this side of the hotel.

Something else we loved was the complimentary breakfast and happy hour. Pre-pandemic it was common for this to be offered at many NYC hotels in this price range. Not many still do it so it was nice to have this option to give us some fuel before we headed out for the day. Adults staying at the hotel are also given 2 drink tickets for the bar during the happy hour, which was also a really nice perk after a busy day. The hotel also puts out snacks as well – cheese and crackers, chips and salsa, or cookies and brownies.

When you check in you are charged a fee of $30 a night that comes back to you in a hotel credit of $30 to use on room service or at the lobby bar. We used this one night and it was fast, and the food was good. You must use your credit every day or you lose it. It can’t be rolled over from day to day.

This hotel is located just steps from Herald Square which is where Macy’s is located. There are quite a few great dining options within just a couple of minute’s walk along with shopping and entertainment. There are many subway stations in the vicinity so you are able to get to any section of the city easily and quickly.

We used the Icon Parking app to park just up the street. I believe the hotel has options but we found this location to be more budget-friendly.

Overall this was a great hotel stay for our trip to NYC. I would definitely book this location and room again, I would just check to make sure their satellite system wasn’t experiencing any outages first.
