Soccer Star Mia Hamm Welcomes Twin Girls

Congratulations to Mia Hamm and husband Nomar Garciaparra of the Los Angeles Dodgers on the safe arrival of their twin girls.

“Both babies are healthy,” says Josh Rawitch, spokesman for the Dodgers.

Hamm, 33, played on the U.S. women’s national soccer team for 18 years. When she retired after the 2004 Athens Olympics, the Wichita Falls, Texas, native had won two World Cups and two Olympic medals.

She met Garciaparra at a 1998 charity event and wed in Santa Barbara in 2003. They live in Los Angeles.

Garciaparra, 33, is the Dodger first baseman. He previously played for the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox.

Mia is the fifth celebrity to have twins in the last few months. Marcia Cross welcomed twin girls on February 21st, Patrick and Jillian Dempsey had twin boys on February 2nd, Diddy and Kim Porter had twin girls on December 21st and Diana Krall started the whole thing off on December 10th with the arrival of her twin boys.
