The Toddler That Underwent Surgery To Remove 4 Limbs: Released From Hospital

At the beginning of November Lakshmi Tatma, 2, underwent surgery to remove 4 limbs and has been released from the hospital.

The tot was born joined to a ‘parasitic twin’ (a second baby that it is incompletely formed or wholly dependent on the body functions of the complete fetus.)

She is pictured here sitting on her dad’s lap with her legs in braces.

It is amazing to see the transformation that this toddler has undergone. Before the surgery, her legs were where her hips were, but they were pointing vertically.

The almost 24-hour operation required a team of more than 30 physicians to remove Lakshmi’s extra limbs, salvaged her organs, and rebuilt her pelvis area. We wish this family well.
