Three-year old Saved Family By Putting Out Christmas Tree Fire

A three-year-old girl named Lilly-May showed incredible bravery and quick thinking when her family’s mini tree caught fire on Christmas Eve. While her one-year-old brother slept soundly in the next room, Lilly-May sprang into action and extinguished the flames using her duvet.

Lilly-May’s mother, Jade Woolliss, expressed her admiration for her daughter’s heroic actions, stating, “It could have been much worse. If it weren’t for Lilly, we could have lost our lives.”

The dramatic event occurred while Lilly-May was enjoying a movie with a friend in her room. A small tree, intended to serve as a night light, suddenly started sparking and eventually ignited. Acting swiftly, Lilly-May smothered the fire, preventing it from spreading further.

Jade Woolliss marveled at her daughter’s fire-fighting skills, unsure of where she had learned them. She speculates that Lilly-May may have picked up the knowledge from television or possibly from a fire safety lesson at her nursery.

Reflecting on the close call, Jade Woolliss emphasizes the importance of parents avoiding the use of electric lights on their child’s Christmas tree. She hopes that their story will serve as a cautionary tale for other families who may unknowingly place their children at risk.

“I want to warn all parents not to put electric lights on their child’s tree,” she urges. “We were fortunate that Lilly had the presence of mind to act quickly. Not every family would be as fortunate.”

This heartwarming story serves as a reminder that children are incredibly capable and can surprise us with their bravery. Lilly-May’s actions saved Christmas for her family, and she truly is a little hero.
