Twin Sisters Deliver Babies Within Hours of Each Other

Nicole Cramer and Naomi Sale, twin sisters, both found themselves in the delivery room shortly after visiting each other’s newborns at the hospital. Nicole, unaware of what was to come, went home only to later experience contractions and rush to DeKalb Memorial Hospital. Incredibly, after just an hour and a half of labor, Nicole delivered her baby, Carter Nathaniel Birchfield.

According to Dr. Weghorst, this situation further supports the theory of the special bond between twins, as even their uteri seem to have a connection. The sisters, who will be celebrating their 23rd birthdays on January 29th, were due to give birth at around the same time in late January. However, it wasn’t until they were eight months along that Dr. Weghorst’s office realized they were twins. Interestingly, the sisters usually had their appointments on the same day but at different times.

This unique situation even surprised Dr. Weghorst, who has been practicing for eight years. Although he had delivered two sets of twins in a single day before, he had never experienced something quite like this.
