If your family enjoys hiking with a little one in tow, it’s time to double-check your gear. Deuter USA has issued a recall for over 5,000 of its popular Kid Comfort, Kid Comfort Pro, and Kid Comfort Active child carriers due to a potential fall hazard.
According to the recall, the foldable rear kickstand support leg on some carriers may crack or break—posing a risk that the carrier could become unstable, potentially leading to a fall. While there have been 13 reports of cracked or broken hinges so far, thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
This recall applies to specific units of the following models sold between March 2023 and March 2025:
Product Name | Model # | Color | Production Code Ends In |
---|---|---|---|
Kid Comfort | 3621221 | Maroon | 0123 |
Kid Comfort | 3621221 | Forest | 1223 |
Kid Comfort Pro | 3621321 | Midnight | 0123 |
Kid Comfort Active | 3621121 | Teal | 0423 |
Kid Comfort Active | 3621121 | Teal | 1223 |
You can find the model number and production code on a tag inside the main storage pocket at the bottom of the carrier.
These child carriers were available at major outdoor retailers such as REI and Bass Pro, as well as online at deuter.com, Amazon, and other websites. They retailed between $240 and $370.
