Publix Super Markets Inc. is voluntarily recalling a specific GreenWise baby food pouch after routine testing revealed elevated levels of lead. The product, made by Bowman Andros LLC, is labeled as Pear, Kiwi, Spinach & Pea and comes in 4-ounce pouches.
So far, no illnesses or health concerns have been reported, but the recall was announced on May 9 and confirmed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The affected pouches were sold in Publix locations across several states, including Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky.
“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted products have been removed from all store shelves,” said Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous. “To date, there have been no reported cases of illness. Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund. Publix customers with additional questions may call our customer care department toll-free at 1-800-242-1227 or visit our website at publix.com.”

Lead exposure in young children can cause developmental delays, learning problems, and other health issues—even without immediate symptoms. That’s why it’s so important to take even precautionary recalls like this one seriously.
Although no children have gotten sick, this recall serves as a good reminder to stay informed about the products we trust with our children’s nutrition.
