Karisma Hotels & Resorts and Autism Double-Checked have joined forces to introduce an important service – the world’s first Autism Concierge. This unique offering provides a dedicated point of contact for any questions related to autism. As part of the comprehensive three-part training program offered by Autism Double-Checked, the Autism Concierge serves as an extension of support for guests.

Setting a new standard in hospitality, Karisma Hotels & Resorts is the first to offer an Autism Concierge. This service aims to cater to the specific needs of guests traveling with children or adults on the autism spectrum. To access the Autism Concierge, guests can simply refer to the resort’s visitor guide and reach out via email to autism_concierge@karismahotels.com.

Not only does Karisma Hotels & Resorts provide this invaluable resource, but all their staff members have undergone specialized training in “Assisting Guests with Autism.” This ensures that every member of the team is equipped to handle any situation that guests with autism may encounter during their stay. Looking ahead, Karisma Hotels & Resorts plans to introduce temporary door alarms in 2023. These alarms can be requested by guests, offering an extra layer of security and peace of mind.

Autism Double-Checked was developed to prepare the travel industry to better serve individuals on the autism spectrum. Through comprehensive training programs, this initiative equips staff with the necessary skills to provide exceptional service to guests with autism. The training consists of three stages, including general basic training for all staff, department-specific training, and the creation of site-specific visitor guides. Hotels that successfully complete the training program earn the coveted “Autism Double-Checked” Certificate.

Through the program, staff will be trained to expect the unexpected, be non-judgmental and autism-inclusivity aware. ‘Autism Double-Checked’ certified companies, have prepared an indexed Visitor Guide for families. It is filled with specific details about possible sensory issues, safety issues, and much more: All specific to that location.

In Mexico, staff at various Karisma Hotels & Resorts properties, including Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, Margaritaville Beach Resort Riviera Cancún, Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancún, Generations Riviera Maya, El Dorado Royale, El Dorado Casitas Royale, El Dorado Maroma, El Dorado Seaside Suites, and Palafitos Overwater Bungalows, have completed the intensive training required to become certified as Autism Double-Checked. Staff at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana and Margaritaville Beach Resort Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic have also completed this rigorous training.
