Covered in mud and dirt, the baby was carefully pulled out of the drain and wrapped in cloth before being rushed to the hospital. According to a witness living on the same street, it was during their morning walk that they heard the cries and found the helpless infant.

Currently, the newborn girl is in stable condition and has been placed in the Newborn Stabilisation Unit at a local hospital in Palamner. The medical officer shared that a woman had earlier come to the hospital, claiming that her newborn baby had passed away. However, just a few hours later, the very same baby was brought in for treatment.

Authorities suspect that the woman who initially sought medical help is indeed the mother of the abandoned baby. She explained that she had arrived from Karnataka and given birth in the washroom before leaving the baby behind. The infant is now under the care of ICDS officers, and the child welfare committee will determine her future.

The Child Welfare Committee will evaluate the mother’s ability to care for her child, considering the fact that she had already abandoned her once. After taking into account all relevant factors, including the reasons behind the abandonment, a decision will be made regarding the custody of her biological daughter.
