Michelle Obama, the First Lady in waiting, today said her ‘number one’ job is still to be ‘mom’ to her two daughters Malia and Sasha.
The 44-year-old lawyer said it would be an honour to be America’s First Lady but insisted her ‘giggling girls’ would be her priority.
‘I will work daily on the issues closest to my heart: helping working women and families, particularly military families.’
But, as my girls reminded me in Denver, even as First Lady, my No1 job is still to be Mom. At seven and 10, our daughters are young.‘My first priority will be to ensure they stay grounded and healthy, with normal childhoods – including homework, chores, dance, and soccer.’
I like Michelle Obama as a mom. Even though she and Barack are such a high profile couple, they keep their parenting techniques simple.
