A newborn baby girl is lucky to be alive after she was abandoned in a Silver Spring, Maryland forest hours after she was born.
The infant was discovered by a man who was passing by. When he heard a baby’s cries coming from the woods he went in to investigate.
The naked baby was laying approximately ten feet from the sidewalk in the woods.
“The baby is possibly Hispanic and, according to medical personnel at the hospital, was born a few hours before she was found,” Montgomery County Police said.
He stayed with her until police arrived Friday night, officials said.
Police located the baby’s mom over the weekend. She is receiving medical treatment at a hospital. The newborn is in stable condition.
