Teenage Hero Rescues Baby After Tragic Electrocution Incident

Majiah Washington, an 18-year-old, is being hailed as a hero for her courageous act of saving a baby’s life in the midst of a devastating storm in Portland. After witnessing three members of the baby’s family being electrocuted by a downed power line, Washington risked her own safety to rescue the child.

The incident occurred during severe weather conditions that brought snow, freezing rain, ice, and frigid temperatures to the Pacific Northwest. A large tree branch snapped, causing a power line to fall onto an SUV. Washington, who lives nearby, saw a flash and rushed to the window, where she saw the couple desperately trying to remove the baby from the vehicle.

Despite the treacherous conditions, the boyfriend managed to grab the child and tried to carry him to safety up the slippery driveway. Tragically, he slipped and made contact with the live wire, resulting in an electrocution. The mother, who was six months pregnant, also attempted to rescue the baby but suffered the same fate.

Witnessing the horrific scene, Washington immediately called 911. She noticed that the nine-month-old baby was still alive and lying on top of his deceased father. Acting on her instincts, she braved the danger, approached the baby, and miraculously managed to grab him without being electrocuted herself.

Although authorities expressed their astonishment at Washington’s heroism and the baby’s survival, they are grateful that both are safe and well. The baby has been examined at a hospital and found to be in good health.

This tragic incident is just one of many caused by the extreme weather in the Pacific Northwest. At least 10 deaths in Oregon and five in the Seattle area have been attributed to the freezing temperatures, hypothermia, and falling trees or utility poles.

Majiah Washington’s selfless act of bravery has not only saved a life but has shown the true spirit of heroism.
