New Watch Helps Teach Kids Good Habits And The Concept Of Time

How cool is this?  The Octopus by Joy is the first icon-based watch that teaches kids good habits and the concept of time.

As kids go through their day it gives the time with icons, making it the first clock that young kids can actually read and understand. The time is also linked to daily events, which gives them an understanding of where they are in their day.

The Octopus’ scheduling feature helps foster responsibility, independence and self-esteem. Parents can program visual reminders from their smartphone that pop up on the kid’s watch (icon+vibration).

It’s also an assistant that helps parents prioritize expectations and stay consistent with daily routines, while providing tips and personal notes.

Octopus is designed for children aged 3 to 8 years old. Unlike other products on the market, it’s wearable, visual and it grows with your kids.

It can also help kids with special needs (AD/HD, ASD, Diabetes, Down Syndrome, or executive functioning issues) by giving them visual prompts to keep them on task. Octopus can be used by parents in tandem with therapists, psychologists, and teachers to provide a reliable and comprehensive scheduling tool that is adept at maintaining consistency across settings.

But best of all, it’s all controlled by an app on your phone so it’s completely customizable.

The foundation of this watch’s technology is consistency. Kids will start to understand that they get a snack every day at 10:30 and will hopefully stop asking at 10am.

The watch comes with a charging cable. An optional charging station can be purchased, which transforms into a nightlight when the watch is attached to it!

  • Seems like a fantastic product for kids growing up in our digital world. I know my boy would love it and would immediately demand for a purchase if he saw this 😉
